Yes this actually a single player but later to keep communirty happy multi option added also.This game is RPG starring in mediavel times you start as a wanderer in a land where five kingdoms are constantly fighting each other you got a character it got stats and bunch of skills(swordmanship , horse riding , diplomacy ,medic to trade).But if what you are looking for is mediavel combat(swords,bows,shields) then don't go for this game instead go for Mediavel Warfare because this game is mainly RPG centric.

I've played mount and blade warband. It was quite fun actually in multiplayer with its gigantic battles with more than 100 players. Can't say the same thing for its single player though.
