CATIC targets 300 JF-17 sales in five years

The thing with L-15 is that, for a advanced trainer, a twin engine craft is costly to maintain.
FC-1/JF-17 eficiencia a bajo coste | Página 19 | Foros Zona Militar

Are you from Argentina zonamilitarforos ?i know there is a thread of JF-17 in the zonamilitarforos.

I have just one question.can you consider JF-17 as a new Selection of Argentina air force in future.you know JF-17 can carry C-802 ASM and CM-400 AKG hypersonic missile and Raad ALCM and many nice weapons so on.I think JF-17 are cool and inexpensive as a pretty good choice for Argentina air force.

Yes im, CATIC already have good relations with Argentina, as Fadea is already producing Z-11 helicopters, now about JF-17... well no, we need a capable fighter vs Typhons and F-35B, as we already have Typhoons flying in our airspace, J-10B is best suited for the job. JF-17 is good for reemplacing our attack and bombers squads, like the M5 and A4s and SUE, but we also need a good fighter, and thats the top priority (except for politicians, the priority for them is to disband the military forces).
Also at a local level, Chile has F-16 B50... but internal wars here are very unlikely.

Thanks for your reply,

btw, I think J-21 ( project 310 )Gyrfalcon is better choice for Argentina air force to face the F-35

Very Good Question why the trainer was not developed? where is Block-2?

Block 2 includes both single seat and a two seat version. The delay in 2 seater production was due to a lack of interest by Chinese, instead, they promoted FCT-2000 and L-15 as a LIFT. PAF funded the development of 2 seater which will be accompanied by single seater based on Block 2 config.

JH-7,JF-17,J-10B,J-31 all are good choice

Hi, Your main concern is British Typhoon and F-35A/Bs and you want equally superior Aircraft but have you though Israel-US could stop support of spares-weapons in case of Conflict-War.

FAA operates 14-16 Daggers/Neshers upgraded to Finger Standards, Airframes are quiet old by now 40+ Years. Any conflict with UK...UK-US has the leverage to stop Israel from providing leftover spares weapons.

US made A4AR 30-34 operational could be crippled in any conflict with North America or UK If spares-weapons are stopped.

French Super Etendarts 8-11 in poor conditions though partially operational are worth replacing.

I don't believe China would provide you with J-10A/B which could end up in US it has happened in the past like Mig-25, SU-27...

Although you guys are out of options and I don't know if Argentina has good relations with Russia but you guys need to start concentrating on mesh of SAM Systems and Radars first. Replace older Fleet of Aircrafts with capable Aircrafts such as FC-1 and Flankers A high low mix...A squadron of Flankers and couple of squardons of FC-1s would be a reasonable move in the Future but even FC-1 is a far fetch idea because Argentina has close relations with Israel and they have the habit to poke in.

Why roll out the twin seater only after ther first batch? I mean, by now most pilots would have received training....no?

.
It will train twice as much pilots as we could do now, hence a more efficient transition. Additionally, dual seater has other roles such as strike/ interdiction if the need arises. Also, a dual seater version will be in handy in future exports.

We have barely 3 squadrons trained up. Training is delayed due to lack of simulators and planes due to lack of funding. Twin seater is a necessity due to traininng needs as well as specialized roles. Also it would be imperative for nations planning to buy the plane in future

Read PAF has asked for extra budget due to Aircraft accidents...Aircrafts nearing retirement...don't know if Govt will furnish it.

Yes, but the cost of the simulators should have been appropriated in the initial JF-17 development program, like right from the start. I mean, all the funding should have been secured during the good times, so that the current state could have been avoided.

Hi,

As there are some very seniors 'ignorant fools' on this board---similiarly there are as many in the paf as well---. All throughout this hoopla of getting a new aircraft---an aircraft for the air force built by the air force---they forgot the most important factor---TIME FOR INTEGRATION---6 to 10 years---minimum on a jf 17 kind of aircraft.

And as the generation changes---it would take longer---from 3rd to 4th a major technology leap---from 4th to 4.5 another leap---but then to 5th gen is a massive leap again so much more technology and so many new issues to face and another decade or more to learn how to operate the aircraft.

The lack of farsightedness is indeed appalling.
