Sheikh Hasina Sued at International Criminal Court For HR Violations
Twenty-five people including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have been sued at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Human Rights and Development for Bangladesh and Greater Washington DC Bangladeshi American filed the case.
Attorney Martin F Mackham disclosed this at a press conference held Washington DC National Press Club Thursday afternoon.
It was further disclosed at the press conference that 9 people including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would face charges of Superior Command Responsibility.
Allegation has been brought against PM, Home Minister, Information Minister, State Minister for Home Affairs, State Minister for Law and high officials of police.
The press conference also detailed widespread alleged human rights violations during the tenure of the incumbent Grand Alliance government.
Incidents like cases against daily Amar Desh acting Editor Mahmudur Rahman, alleged abduction of Shukhoranjan Bali, a defence witness for Delwar Hossain Sayedee in a case at International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), and killing of Aminul Islam, a labour rights leader, May 5 incidents of Hefazat-e-Islam were also mentioned in the petition.
