News - Car plant to be set up at Savar
Dhaka, Nov 19 (UNB) - Hindustan Motors Limited, a flagship venture of the multi-billion-dollar CK Birla Group, India, in collaboration with Intraco Group will set up a car manufacturing plant at Savar.
The plant will be set with an estimated cost of US$ 10 million and both the companies have a plan to assemble 10,000 cars within the next three years. Initially, they will assemble 200 cars.
This was informed at the launching ceremony of Ambassador, India's most trusted car, in Bangladesh.
Intraco Group arranged the event at Hotel Sonargaon with Intraco Group Managing Director Riyadh Ali in the chair.
Industries Minister Dilip Barua formally inaugurated the marketing of Ambassador in Bangladesh. Intraco Group is the lone distributor of the brand in the country.
Acting Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Sanjoy Bhattacharyya, FBCCI senior vice president M Jashim Uddin and Managing Director of Hindustan Motors Manoj Jha, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Addressing the function, Barua said there are huge potentials for joint ventures in Bangladesh. I think invitation of Hindustan Motors to work in Bangladesh is wise and it can avail of the opportunities to explore their state-of-the-art technology in our country.
Barua suggested the organisers to plan for upgrading models in the future and expand the car plant gradually. Im happy to know that in the future both of your companies will go for export.
He laid emphasis on quality production and competitive prices to capture the market.
The Ambassador brand has various options to use fuels like CNG, Petrol or Diesel.
Officials said Bangladesh would be benefited if it assembles cars in the country instead of importing taxicabs from India.
