Cancer rates for Hong Kong women [and men] set to soar

.
Childbearing and breastfeeding reduce the risk of breast cancer among women. But in developed countries, the birth rate is decreasing, and women are either less likely to breastfeed or only have very short breastfeeding periods,” Lee said.

The fight to rid Hong Kong of cervical cancer

Lee said that earlier menarche – the first menstrual cycle – and receiving hormone replacement therapy after menopause also increased the chances of women developing certain cancers.

"The figures showed the number of females with cancer was expected to be 36 per cent higher, outpacing the 26 per cent increase for men."

Probably a combination of more eating ( https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn11307-childhood-obesity-brings-early-puberty-for-girls/ ) growth hormones in milk and even microwaving BPA plastic containers ( http://naturalsociety.com/puberty-in-girls-hastened-by-harmful-chemicals/ ) lead to earlier puberty.

Yeah growth hormone (rbst) use in livestock animals is a clear concern and has the potential to cause a lot of health problems. However since Far east cuisine doesn't consume much dairy product I think rbst would have a limited impact. However you're right, a lot of different chemical contaminant causes early puberty.

In China's case I don't blame them very much because of such issues. Because they have recently Ended the problem of malnutrition, let alone handling the food safety. Food contamination by chemicals is a first world problem compared to their ordeals in the past. However HK is rich and autonomous and their policy makers should've been much more careful.

Well Hong Kong imports about 90% of their food so if their rates are going up due to food then the mainland should be going up to.

If the mainland isn't...then the cause must be environmental.

Electricty production by coal will be the number one cause of lung cancer for non smoking Chinese population. And the smoking rate is high in China. Besides there are not many anti-smoking laws, like indoor public places.

Their advantages are somewhat healthier cuisine and more mobile lifestyle.

Far easterners are generally live much longer then world average. Mainland life expectancy is much lower then their genetic potential. Let's see if this will change as they develop.

They'd live even longer if they still simply cut out all the salt and cigarettes.

But obviously eating a diet of fish and vegetables and not sitting infront of a computer 8+ hours a day/5 days week is going to increase your longevity.

Well yeah. And this is the sweet irony. We created all this isolated from nature, "sterile" environment to stay alive and live longer. That's our ultimate basic instinct. However that instinct made us unhealthier and maybe will even shorten our life expectancy in the future (and this is extremely rare in history).

China is just an example of what happened in the last 50 years in the west condensed into 10-20 years. The problem is when will we face the bitter truth of something much deeper is wrong with the mankind as a Specie.
