Thankfully, there seem to be signs that programs such as the national health insurance, ODSP and a few new initiatives (such as a plan for universal prescription drug plan) are going to continue on and not get cut.I am not sure it would take a hit but U are absolutely right, a motorized wheel chair for a disabled person costs almost 30kCAD which 75% is paid by ODSP. I would never be able to afford it.
Still, we'll have to see what happens. The plan is to roll out the program this fall, to a few communities as a pilot project. If things work out, the plan is to expand it over a few years to cover all of Ontario.
Though, I doubt it will work. I fully expect the government to screw it up and cancel the program after a few years. They couldn't even get the HST to work properly.
