What's new

Canada is going on a massive immigration drive

They would be crushed under soaring inflation and high cost of living
doubt this would scare off any man from the villages, they'd work any job, live anywhere, do anything
different mentally/hustle , urban middle-class people get scared off by inflation and COL

My advice to new immigrants would be to leave your pride at home. I've seen some Indian immigrants with no academic potential spend lot of money on useless courses and several years trying to get an office job rather than just driving a truck or working as an electrician or plumber since that is "beneath them". They would rather work as a clerk doing data entry or customer support all day in an office for 15 bucks an hour rather than drive a truck or be a plumber earning 60-70k an year.

Again, this is not true for Punjabis, those guys would do any job that pays the most, they form the majority of new truck drivers.
I drive a bus for a living, trust me, its really shitty job/hours/schedules to drive trucks and make money.

To be plumber or electrician its not easy either……u need experience and to first learn the trade……very hard to get apprenticeship and experience as u havevto find somebidy who hire you to work with them and teach u……its not simple as doing coursr and start job
Driving an 18 wheeler aint easy…try it…..u need tons of experience to start making good money with reputable company

Only way for good educated folks is to do another degree here first in their discipline….either masters or bachelors….then u can compete fir most jobs

Its a system based discrimination here, all foreigners are pretty much forced to study….

One of my first job after I left the Army is to drive a digger on a construction site. It's hard job and you need to get a Commercial License and I used to drive Tank in the Army, so I am used to tracked vehicle, you won't believe the pay Excavator gets. It's actually a lot more than middle management level.

I did it for like 2 months. Then I move on to something else.

Those punjabis are mostly the ones causing collisions and breakdowns.
They try shortcuts to obtain license and then have cheap/shitty training…..yeah i see it daily on highways…..they’re hardworking yes but if only they invest in proper training fir a 45 foot vehicle

You have a point of course, nothing is easy. If you have academic potential, for sure do a bachelors or masters. However, being a trucker or plumber or electrician can also provide a decent quality of life. Compared to the cost and time of a bachelors - 4 years, im sure way easier to be a plumber or trucker...Also might be weird/uncomfortable for an immigant whose like 25-30 years of age to go to university and sit with 18 year olds.

Sad state of affairs.

Don't know which one is worse.

On one hand you have a country(people) who doesn't like immigrants as it changes their demographics and immigrants don't really integrate.

On the other hand, there are people from countries who love their countries and culture/people to the fullest and yet are willing to go to other country with different culture/people where they will never be accepted fully nor will they ever try to integrate fully.

I hope they work with people in Canada to survey what trades are needed, and look to vet people in Pakistan that have the mindset to handle the transition.

It might be 5-10 years of hard living in Canada before some of these new immigrants would be able to afford to visit where they came from. High housing costs, high foods costs, high travel costs, and at the end of the day, this is more of a sacrifice a person has to be willing to make, to give his offspring a chance at a better life.

So vetting people for the best candidates that can make the transition should be prioritized. Over time, the “infrastructure” of helping the best adjusted to move to Canada will make Pakistan a source of people across the entire skills spectrum. Sure it can be a brain drain, but with such a large population and a growing one at that, even if 3-5 million move to Canada over the next 25 years, it’s still building the right environment in Pakistan that will attract the skilled workers and their kids back.

You sure its me lying?

Using one of your data points-
View attachment 895123
3% Pakistanis prison pop

View attachment 895124
1.86 % general pop.

That shows outperformance by relative pop.

Additionally Pakistanis are ranked sixth going into jail of all the countries nationalities in UK.

Back to the point I made, if other nations use such data to modify their immigration policies thats understandable.

Yes obviously my point still stands. A 1.86% v 3% is a slight variance. If it were double example you would have a point.

Ive spend a substantial amount of time in NA and had the displeasure of being in London , Toronto as well as Saskatoon.

It has nothing there, no proper industry or ecosystem , the likes of which you will find in US , China , India.
Better secure a job first and then move, if not , then me saying its not worth it ,will be a big understatement.

You will loose years of you life trying to figure out what you did wrong that you are having such a hard time there.
Then you will realize that there economy and the chamber of commerce is not what you think it is (ie a free market democracy).

Its heavily regulated, your actions are monitored and your lives are not dependent on you skills, never seen a more pretentious bunch of backstabbers.
And this money grubbing and backbiting comes from the fact that the economies are not saturated and running under big debts.

The only orgs with decent cash flow are , Banks/insurance , Transit and Food. Everything else will use ,chew and spit you out.

Other points have already been covered which are pretty much common info.

I remember the time when I get a Kellogg offer and migrate to Canada, it's not that hard actually, I mean compare to what I have heard in Australia and US, they don't need you to work 5 or 6 years for a H1B type visa, you get a job and you pass a point test, and you are good to go.

But the prospect is shit, and that's said a lot because I now live in Australia....
How is Australia for immigration? Same issues as inflation etc or AU has prospects?

Australia for immigration is a high-low-high situation.

It really can be on the two extreme, it's either the easiest on earth, or the hardest, at this point, it's the latter, it's hard as hell to gain a visa to Australia because we just come out of a 8 years Liberal Government, and the Peter Dutton dude keep the Quota to minimum, and they changed a lot of things.

Before 2010, you can get a Permanent Resident Visa just by completing a 2- or 3-years course on the immigration department list. which mean at most you will spend is around 150,000 AUD to get Permanent Residence, you don't need job offer, you don't need to live in the rural area. Now, it's a point test, with 1.5-year temporary visa, and a job you have been working to gain Permanent Residence. And that's the easiest pathway. If you want to get a working visa, then it will be similar to H1B. You get sponsored, work for 5 or 6 years, then they put your visa application thru. Family visa is a no go depends on the type, if you married an Australian, you would need to wait 4 years, if you apply your parent, you need to have 50% of family member here in Oz, and then wait around 10 years, if you want to apply the rest of your family, that wait time is 50 years.

Now labor took the government, they are reviewing the entire immigration system, and they claim they will double the quota and relax some restriction, well, I will believe it when I see it.

Inflation is not really that big of a problem. Most thing in supermarket marked up about 10-17%, but if you shop wisely like you only buy when they are doing discount, then the price didn't really affect you this much, however, luxury is another issue, even pet ownership, pet food and other stuff has marked up dramatically, I have 2 cats at home, we used to spend around $50 a month on food and litter and everything, now it's almost triple that. Cat liter goes from $6 a pack to $10 a pack and cat food goes from $1.3 a can to $2.3 a can. or $20 a bag to $23 a bag. Waiting for discount would sooth the pain but but really not much. Gas is alright, the gas station near me is doing 189c per liter, it used to be around 150c but I am pretty sure there are cheaper gas station out there.

I live in Canada, trust me already become mini India in most areas like brampton. These dark skinned people walk by smell of the filth disgust surrounding them. I have had Korean & Chinese friends describe them.
But Govt of Canada keeps influx of these sweepers.
When laws will be broken by Hindu extremists than govt of Canada will take notice & influx of Pakistani immigrants but will be too late.
