What's new

Can you shake hands with local girls if you travel in Pakistan?

We arent part of your civilisation... your books call us the Mlecha? savages...

Today you are Mlecha. Back then you weren't. Back then when the practice of not touching people existed, you were part of the Hindu civilization and society. Much of the practices you still follow, without knowing why you do what you do.

I really don't care what you claim to be. I am only stating facts. You are free to ignore them.

Do foreigners follow Chinese customs?
If I ever visit China, I would like to learn about its culture, customs and laws in advance. This does not imply that I would adopt Chinese lifestyle while being there; my homework would be in regards to the do's and don'ts of behavior in China.

It is rather a safe practice to avoid physical contact [of any type] with females anywhere in the world - specially those who are not your friends.

If a lady extends her hand for a handshake to you [on her own] then no harm in doing the needful. However, this is not the norm in Pakistan.

Even if I meet a Chinese lady in Pakistan, I won't extend my hand for a handshake to her [on my own]. If she do it to me, then no issue.

For me it is like this, if a foreigner lady meets me for the very first time and extends her, I will most likely shake hands with her but if she is my friend, colleague, etc then most probably I would have explained to her about my culture and religion so I expect that she does not extend her hands.

@DESERT FIGHTER @Shankranthi what is Mlecha?

Mleccha is a sanskrit word that comes from two separate words "Mala+ichcha". "Mal" means "unclean, dirty, filthy" and is the root for the english world "Mal = Bad" like "malicious", "malevolent" etc.

Iccha means "self desire".

So Mleccha means one who keeps oneself dirty/filthy on purpose. Filthy habits. Eating, talking, behavior etc.

Like not taking a bath regularly, eating unclean food, have no grace, speaking crudely and over all acting like a Barbarian.

So Mleccha Bhasha means one who does not know Saskrit or rules of grammer.

"Mlecchagana" means tribes or people who live as barbarians. Usually those who lived outside Aryavarta i.e. Land of the Aryans i.e. Land of civilized people.

LOL... when did I lie ?

I have told him the accurate meaning of the word Mleccha and its roots and origin. That is what he asked for.

Barbarians is one of the meanings I gave as part of the explanations. A barbarian who is defined by his lack of civilized behavior which includes language, costumes, eating habits and honor.

And of course one kept the uncivilized man out of civilized society. They were out castes. lol.
