I have been speaking to a girl from USA she lives in Virginia, she has made it clear from the start she is not prepared to live in UK and if I wish to make it work I must relocate to USA.

Can you dear chaps advice me about job opportunities and living there? as I do not have a US degree and she has a high status job. She is already asking me how much savings I have etc It's a big move and I need to think it through.

Doctors make huge amount of money in the US compared to UK. I have been to Virginia it is nice to live and work. Take a flight across the pond and check it out yourself.

Sorry Bro I should have made it clear from the start I am not a Dr in the medical sense but I completed a PHD in History. I do not have much savings as I went backpacking to South America and spent much there I have to ask my family to help but my sister is also getting hitched and there is much expense there also.

I work with an individual who lives in Virginia (see the name above) who works in the biotech industry for the US government, it's not an easy market to crack.

Depends on where you'd work. If you work in D.C. or Maryland you'd want to live in Fredericksburg, Stafford or any of the northern cities... Richmond is an hours drive south and nearly 2 hours (without traffic and that's never the case) from D.C.

Virgina and Maryland are more affordable, D.C. is a rent nightmare and one of the most expensive places to live in the US.

Virginia is a very, very spread out state with a lot of farmland and dead-space, this can make commuting a problem if you live to far from where you work. Its light-rail system is well established in major cities such as Richmond, but it's limited outside of cities. In the North the D.C. metro links with the VRE (light-rail)

Wow, I wouldn't get along with someone who asks for my bank balance. It really shouldn't be my place to say, but you should be cautious of what kind of woman your getting involved with. Stick to someone who you feel you can trust.

She said to come there for 5-6 days & meet her family etc and if everything goes to plan job hunt 2-3 months prior to moving out there f/t.

This is Indian culture, I am not materialistic but her family require to know the finer details and also I have to provide the time of my birth! as they do the horoscope thing.

Because I know she has a well paid job and I feel I might realistically make less money than her which sucks from a guy's perspective but maybe in 5-8 years I can live the American dream also?
