prevent by whom? agreeable poor economy is the main cause for PAF to get the best but it did get some best stuff from US and is under process of getting best european technologies direct indirect by Turkey. During high times PAD got F-16 deal nobody prevent us even French offered Rafale throw money get what you want from the best source like US/Euro in case of Pakistan but eventually it would be far better to slowly self develop.

You are saying why Indians are acting like scared little girls when Russia is selling Rd-93 direct to Pakistan instead through China.

We would like to prevent you from getting any tech whatsoever so as to degrade your military power and keep building our edge over you. Our relatively massive diplomatic clout in the world enables us to do.

You aren't getting more Perry's from US no more blk 52's and no Vipers/Super Cobras.

Even the US army surplus is mostly going to Jordan and you only managed a few MRAPS.

French denied avionics for jf-17 forcing you to get the chinese stuff. We paid for it in the our M2K MLU.

So good luck for indigenous development. But your foreign options in terms of quality are being choked off.

Even India is not having the best of the economic growth but international clout matters.

Big budgets ? Compared to whom ?

big budgets i pointed towards hindustan...money comes easily no? alot of plans and big procurements yet indigenous projects delayed failed ended and a long list.

Kindly educate your member storm force your brainless friend would give bad name to hindustanis over here than achieving point scoring that has no advantage on PDF.

Both these would remain as its disadvantages through out its service life

Weapons for sure, PAF is simply far more dependent on JF 17 as a weapon platform, while IAF has far more fighter types as options to deliver a variety of weapons. That's always based on customer demands for any fighter.
Fighter costs will depend, it will be interesting to compare the cost difference of JF 17 Block 2 and LCA MK1 FOC, but of course the more foreign stuff we had to add, the more the costs went up.

LCA must get the Quartz Radome ; IFR probe and the GSh 23 Gun
by the end of this year

Along with that the Derby BVRAAM will be test fired

So then we can say that LCA mk1 is fully operational

It isn't a 'big budget' compared top similar projects worldwide. And then some of DRDO's timelines are unrealistic.LCA is a perfect example.

And there is a really long list of indigenous projects that have been successful. Please consider that too.

The angle of attack and the supersonic with external payload ability also is pending in FOC

The LCA vs JF-17 debate is foolish to say the least. Both are different projects based on different technologies with a different ethos in mind. The JF-17 has been developed by China who has a far more developed industrial base than India especially when the LCA project first started out in the mid 90s. India has had to do pretty much everything from scratch and on its own.

However the biggest issue is people are comparing the LCA and Thunder on a like for like 1 vs 1 basis in a vacuum without factoring in context. Whilst the PAF needs the Thunder desperately to beef up their force the LCA is not vital to the IAF's top end fighting combat capabilities. If the Thunder was not coming the PAF would be in a whole world of pain, if the LCA didn't come the IAF would find things a little more expensive but would cope. The LCA is the very bottom rung of the IAF's combat arm, the Thunder is lined up as the mainstay fighter for the PAF.

Having said that the LCA can do everything the JF-17 can do, the same is not true in reverse.

The the MIG 21 Bison with a GOOD jammer and HOBS missile
R 73 is a deadly interceptor

So similarly LCA too can be a good point defence / CAP fighter

LCA has only ONE disadvantage that is range / combat radius
That will determine the amount of time for which it can remain airborne

Otherwise it is fully capable of taking on ALL enemy fighters

Look your mind is thinking something else...what ever my reply is it points back to mr. storm force india member and his brainless posts take a look i don't care if you people try to block military products/technologies to Pakistan try it but you could not stop AMRAAMs and F-16s or RD-93. You should read we or any nation throwing money to them can procure the best products on the market...what it requires is MONEY. We aren't getting perry but you and i don't know maybe PN is not interested any more and is looking towards Turkish light frigates and Chinese Type 53/54 perhaps philosophy is to upgrade current F-22P frigates apart from 4 more ordered instead of spending it on Perry Class...are you getting my point? Cobras are asked for but US can't provide latest cobras until US receives the new ones starting in 2016 so no they did not deny and Pakistan did ask for new Cobras and yes we do have multiple sources to get Gunships from Turkey if not than Chinese option is there and even South African one they can reboot the project. French denied avionics post 2010 when india MRCA became active and everyone was throwing their products so its natural to get bigger share or deal seller would do anything 20 billion vs 8-900 million for 50 radars/avionics/weapons deal which one would you as seller pick? Foreign option as i said earlier are open all is up to hard cash throw it and get it. I don't know about india economic growth but alot of cash is allocated 100x more than Pakistan and india is getting best product and poor slow delayed home grown products but yes its all up to Will and hard work and efforts vs & against corporate greed/govt greed corruption and some top bosses of Organization hand in glove to destroy projects.

Mig21 Bison has R77 missile and a much better radar.

@Abingdonboy

According to KaiserTufail JF 17 too has this limited air time

Tufail is unconvinced, though, and highlights that 10,000 hours/13,500 sorties, equates to 45 minutes per sortie.

“Notwithstanding the aerial refueling capability [which has many operational and logistics limitations], the short sortie time may be a no-no for prospective buyers,” he said.

His most likely solution is not so straightforward, however.

“[Conformal fuel tanks] are absolutely essential to a multi-role JF-17, but these are not easy to install, since the aerodynamics of the aircraft is greatly altered and it would call for flight testing in all regimes, including certification of all stores anew.”

Mig 21 can carry R 77

NO doubt But to USE it it will have to rely on SU 30 MKI which will act as the airborne radar
for the Mig 21 ; while Mig 21 will maintain radar silence

But if the Mig 21 has to make a KILL on its own it will
rely on its HOBS R 73 and HMS plus its ELTA JAMMER and its own Mach 2 speed
