Both North Korea and Myanmar are better off than most American neighbors. From Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras to Haiti. The list is endless.

If you have to choose to live as an average citizen in Mexico and North Korea, which one would you choose? I would surely choose North Korea over Mexico anyday. Less freedom and perhaps lower standard of living in general, I agree, but far more advanced in education, science and technology. And the people are clean, civilized and disciplined, which I would appreciate over the jungle "freedom" in Latin America. They do not kill others on the streets.

If North Korea opens their economy like China, they would become another South Korea within 30 years. But Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and even the US? Without good price of natural resources, they will slowly become kind of today Brazil.

Do not forget that most, if not all, these American neighbours were once rich thank to natural resources, while North Korea and Myanmar never were. But then they follow the American model....

North Korea should not open up until S. Korea is defeated, else they risk becoming the next East Germany.

That seems to be an internet rumor, but I work with some soutkorean guys in the past, they didn't say nice things about their own women.
In Asia, it seems vietnamese and japanese women are usually the most friendly, at least from my experiences.
Koreans seem kinda haughty and modern, and chinese are, well, shrewd. Then again, most chinese women I met are merchants/suppliers.

Haha, if you ask the poorest people in the poorest countries on the poorest continent of Africa, they will say that they choose freedom, and hence, Mexico over North Korea, regardless of the current status of their country: poverty, slums, starvation, illiteracy and daily struggle to put food on table.

However, educated people from civilized societies will prefer education, hardworking spirit, cleanliness, stable and safe society, science and technology development as criteria.

The virus of individual freedom, once infected, will not be easily cured. People will continue to choose that kind of jungle freedom, even if their children are starved and their countries are falling into the drain. It is like kind of religion.

Just try to discuss with a Christian that God does not exist.

the problem with North Korea is that 95% of the population are slaves and wretched ones. the economic deprivation is beyond belief.
