Dude, in 1941 Japan's economy was only one-fifth the size of the US at most.

When China decides to drive the US out of the Western Pacific it's economy is likely to be at least twice the size of the US - currently predicted to hit this level at around 2030.

American investment costs in infrastructure in South Asia are next to impossible as they are unaffordable, being at least thrice that of what China can offer. Its no wonder that China has been given major contracts for infrastructure development in countries like India where it has already signed deals worth $40 billion and offered an investment of $300 billion for the 12th five year plan.

If America had to be contracted for the same, it would have cost three times as much! And needless to say, Chinese workmanship in infrastructural development is of the highest quality.

In other words, few want to opt for the Americans. They've priced themselves out of the market.
