Can Pakistan get the Shale Oil/ Natural Gas

Below is a picture of the common Oil/ Natural Gas fields found across the world, and to the right of what is classified as Shale Oil/ Natural Gas:

Below is research gathered by the US Energy Information Institute:

The US Energy Information Institute estimates that Pakistan has 52 Trillion Cubic Feet of Shale Natural Gas, and 9 Billion Barrels of Shale Oil.

And this is compared to estimates that by 2023 Pakistan will no longer have any domestic Natural Gas, and by 2022 there will no longer be domestic Oil by current production.

Shale Gas and it's technology have revolutionized the European-Russian Relationship. No longer with American Shale Gas Technology will Europe be wholly-fully dependent on Russian Natural Gas to heat the continent in Winter.

. .
To extract shale gas large amount of water is needed which we are lack of

.
it is better we should focus on alternate energy sources

.
Pakistan gets ton of sunlight. In summer its literally boiling with the sun. There must billions of houses in Pakistan. What if we cover every single house in Pakistan with solar panels. We could have mini powerplants all over the country.

Solar panels have become alot cheaper recently.

I've read it takes about 1 billion barrels of water to extract 1 million barrels of oil. We are not without options. 200 million produce a lot of waste water which can be cleaned and processed for this industrial use. Shale oil and gas extraction is much cheaper than offshore drilling. USAID backed out from an experimental drill site. Water was an excuse, in reality it was political, USA was reducing assistance at the time. An attempt to extract shale oil/ gas must be made.

Bro the environmental damage it does is immense and combine this with the threat of earthquakes, which Pakistan is already prone to, could lead to a disaster.
By the way the UK has stopped all fracking operations due to tremors.

I support solar. However, Pakistan should exploit all energy sources available including shale.

These concerns are exaggerated. USA is producing like 8 - 9 million Bpd of shale oil. No massive environmental apocalypse occurred. The USA could care less about a spike in oil prices....frackers would love it....we are not that lucky....our forex would take a huge hit is oil prices stay elevated for a long time.

Shale extraction is costly and cumbersome, stop your oil fueled power plants, and keep getting crude at cheap prices like you have been doing.

1 kva = 1 lakh rs not cheap!

we need local manufacturing but no one seem interested we are lazy people import is easy!

Pakistan don't get crude on cheap prices, some portion we get on longer credit terms. It's India who get cheaper oil on generous credit terms with facility of paying partially in INR from Iran.

Two points,
How are the oil prices low in Pakistan compared to India with taxes roughly the same?
How on earth do you sustain these power generating plants fueled by oil since decades?

1. You should check with your government and oil companies about profit margins.
2. We aren't sustaining thermal electricity, that's the reason we have something called "circular debt" in energy sector.
