Can India 'fix' Afghanistan?

Afghans can only fix their own country, nobody else.


india most certainly cant...in the broader scheme of things, india (even before it became a country in '47) has been more of a problem than a solution....from the times of general ranjit singh (a formidable leader, albeit one who was bound to be doomed) to the time they backed the largely unpopular soviet occupation of Afghan lands.

Ashok - please do me a favour and read my post again - I asked you respectfully view his POSTS - By this i meant his last 10 posts that will give you a perfect example and base to judge his intent. If the post was from you or someone else then i could back down from my stance. I am specifically saying that this chaps intent is to troll. If you after viewing his posts feel i am wrong then we will have to agree to disagree. Even a fellow Indian member has agreed the intent he has.
Lets not get side tracked - i have made my point and will move on.
If India feel they "Can fix Afghanistan" - it will (in my opinion) be a miracle.

india has said several times its not interested....As for as military boots are concerned....

5. Their horticulture system

To Fix Afghanistan one needs to Fix Pakistan first....abhe muramat chal rahi hai.

Pakistan is in process of re aligning its priorities to a more peaceful nature ...when its done Afghanistan will improve on its own.

Looks like you are expecting too much from your external matters sector. Creating lobbies in any nation is easier then the achieving its real objectives.

my friend, afghans cannot fix afghanistan - the tribals don't have the political will or need to and just don't desire a cohesive, strong state.

why else did the anglo-americans cuddle the cabal in kabul so much and squeeze pakistan so hard? the truth is, only pakistan has the political will and political capital and military resources to fix afghanistan - which is exactly why pakistan must "fix" it to its liking and needs and put a hold to this enterprise unless and until anglo-americans (whose strategic interests are so diagonally opposed to pakistan's) remove themselves from the scene.

That my friend is why we get so much anti Pakistani propaganda from west they want Pakistan to fix it for them for their ends and when their interests do not converge with Pakistan's they still expect Pakistan to do their bidding. That's why they are frustrated and angry with Pakistan

we have the keys to help promote reconciliation and help ''promote'' a national dialogue.

we can invest in their bridges, infrastructure, schools etc (as we've done) we can invest in railways etc. to help promote trade and regional integration

that's all we can do really....rest is up to Afghans, and ONLY Afghans. In my own humble opinion.


i do agree that the gora presence has been incredibly destabilizing - as we are a witness to it. But as I always say, NATO will soon be a closed chapter in Afghanistan's already troubled history. Real question is, how much damage will they cause before realizing that this adventure of theirs was totally futile and that they should have listened to Pakistan's terse (albeit not vocal enough) warnings in 2001.

Usa has tried and is leaving disappointed.. India can try.. and history will repeat itself.. Both the U.S. and India can only offer support.. its up to the local Afghans now.
