US warship was just chased out of Chinese territorial water. Why didn't US warship fired in retaliation if it is so invincible as it claimed over its News Media?

Yes you’re correct. A big defense budget is a psychological deterrent itself. If China spends 3% of GDP (~$500billion) it will make others think twice about attacking China considering the money, talent and industrial might of China in a war.

Considering the threats China is facing, 3% of GDP is a very low figure.
