I have a desire to visit Pakistan. Primarily for the food and architecture in Lahore and the Northern Areas region for the mountains and lakes. Is that possible ? easy or difficult ? How does it work ? Any information would be helpful.

I have a Pakistani friend in Saudi. She lives and works there but is a Pakistani citizen and keeps visiting Multan every now and then. Can that help in any way ?

Dear OP, you are most welcome in pk any time... Last time a bhakt popped over on a tourist visa... Kulbhashav was his name I think, can't quite remember.... he had a great time, even went off the beaten track and got some sight-seeing in at some far flung locations. I believe he was a guest of honour at several government institutions too. Last I heard was a rumour that he enjoyed it so much, he decided to stay... indefinitely.

Actually he loved so much that he also plans to die here.

Pakistanis are lovely and hospitable people, if meet the common people in the streets. you love it. only Baluchistan is a very sensitive region of Pakistan, especially after arresting Kulbhoshan Jadav, so the presence of any Indian national on wouldn't be a good omen, so please stick to the itinerary, the Travel Agency would tailor for you.

The authentic answer you may get either from Pakistan high commission new Delhi or your Travel sponsor in Pakistan.

Ignore the nay Sayers, you will be pleasantly surprised if you visit Pakistan, the people are warm and friendly, more curious than angry at India( and Indians or maybe they were being polite)

The best way I would recommend is to travel by the samjhota exp. That train serves as a symbolic link between our two nations and is very budget friendly. Pakistanis are not as dependant on trains for internal travel as we are, so inquire about road transport well in advance. Their road infrastructure is better than ours ( atleast between all the major cities between Punjab and Sindh)

In Karachi you would need a localite and a local vehicle to traverse and truly enjoy the sights. Karachi is huge(imagine Mumbai with the intercity traffic and no dominant local train setup).

Inquire about staying recommendations or if you are lucky enough stay at a relative/friend's place. Pakistanis take 'mehman nawazi' seriously.

I am a Northie but that has nothing to do with my desire to visit Pakistan. I like to travel and Pakistan is just one of the countries on my wish list. I made the some Pakistani friends on of my travels abroad and that triggered my desire to visit Pakistan. I found them to be very nice and very similar. I am still in touch with one of them. Wh not try out a new place, even if it is only Lahore.

4-5 years ago I'd encouraged this but I'm not sure now. I think religious tourism should be permitted but apart from that any kind of movement between the countries should be banned for at least a couple generations. However normalization of Govt-to-Govt relations is necessary.

No, it uses grammar sourced from Sanskrit which came to our region prior to you guys even hearing a word of Indo-Aryan. That is why Pannini the Sanskrit grammarian wrote his books whilst cooling his feet in the Indus River near Attock and not while smelling the foul stench of the Ganga at Varanasi.

Sanskrit was adopted by the vast numbers of the conquered natives of India like English has been adopted by groids in Jamaica, Barbados etc.

On topic@ Pakistan needs to open itself to Indian tourism. There is a huge middle class in India and I think they would love to visit the real Pakistan. It might even help to reduce the animus between the two nations.
