Somewhere in 1950s RPAF/PAF switched from desert camouflage to grey-green one. Does anyone have a more precise date?
Thanks

The aircraft or personnel?

The introduction of the Supermarine attackers was the introduction of the Grey color on a PAF aircraft. After that, whatever color the USAF handouts took on.

Aircraft.
Supermarine Attackers were delivered in High Speed Silver scheme. I do not know, if they were repainted later in service. Sea Furies were delivered in desert scheme, but later were repainted to green & grey camouflage.

The Sea Furies were repainted during their repositioning towards the Northern part of Pakistan. In the 50s the capital was Karachi so the focus of Important squadrons

As far as I know, the squadron responsible for Karachi air defence was No 11 Squadron on Attackers. No 5, 9 and 14 Squadrons were formed at Peshawar, and based there apart of temporary detachments to Miranshah. They were deployed occassionally to other bases like Mauripur, but I think they remained in Peshawar until 1960s.
So, I am not sure which move you mean.

Sea Furies were positioned initially at Karachi- then moved. A great read into some early history is ACdre Mansoor Shah's book "The Gold Bird"

Thank you for the reply, I am aware of the book, but I am afraid it does not help with my question. Also another one, as to when and why code letters were replaced by digit codes on Sea Furies.
Thank you in advance to anyone for the help.
