An intervention by British Prime Minister David Cameron could save 21-year-old Ali Mohammed al-Nimr from crucifixion by Saudi authorities, according to al-Nimr’s father.
Al-Nimr was arrested for allegedly taking part in anti-government protests at the age of 17 and now faces a brutal death after the appeals process was exhausted.

His father, Mohammed al-Nimr, told the Guardian newspaper on Friday that al-Nimr was one of eight men sentenced to capital punishment for the same alleged offences. He said an intervention by David Cameron could save his son.

I heard that Cameron has spoken about my son’s case. I see this [as] a positive step. Our two countries have a warm and friendly relationship, so I expect this will lead to a good outcome. I hope that Cameron’s intervention will have a positive effect on the Saudi royal family,” he said.

In an interview with Channel 4 on Tuesday, Cameron appeared flustered when pressed on the issue of the execution and the UK’s relationship with Saudi Arabia more broadly.
During his Labour party conference address, opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn also raised the case specifically, urging Cameron to intervene and to end a UK bid to provide services to Saudi prisons such as the one al-Nimr is being held in.

Mr Cameron is a father too, so I know he understands what I am going through,” Mohammed al-Nimr said.

I am so grateful to him and everyone else in the world who has campaigned on behalf of my son. I hope the matter can be resolved in a peaceful manner.
Al-Nimr also maintained that his son is innocent of the charges against him and had only confessed under torture.

My son is completely innocent,” he said. “He has denied all accusations against him and said so in court. My son is a peaceful man. They forced him to sign a confession for a crime he never committed.

Very unlikely he would speak out.

There is no "crucifixion" in KSA.

The thing that happens (rarely) is that when a hardcore criminal has been sentenced to death (beheaded which takes 1 second and is the cleanest and most painless way of execution in the world) his body will be put up for public display for a certain time to serve as a warning.

It happened 2 years ago or so when a gang of Yemeni murderers and rapists where executed in the Southwest of the country.

Executions in public are necessary as otherwise if the state did it behind closed doors it would just be murder that serves no purpose other than punishing the criminal. Executions in public though serve as a necessary evil so people can see the consequences of criminal activities.

It works in KSA as it has one of the lowest crime rates on the planet despite being one of the most cosmopolitan countries on the planet.

Anti death penalty sissies can go cry themselves to sleep. In KSA you don't mess with the law. Let the British Tabloid press (which seems to be on a anti-House of Saud crusade of late after they made out with the Mullah's across the pond) continue their nonsense.

This "innocent" criminal was part of a gang which killed civilians and policemen. He was not an "innocent protestor" otherwise 1000's of other protestors would face the same punishment or at least some punishment. That is not the case.

His relative (uncle if I recall) is a terrorist too and a traitor who has been sentenced to death as well. Whether those death sentences will be carried out or not is unsure but what is 100% sure is that they will not see freedom ever or at least in a very, very long time.

Any citizen who in this time (state of war and endless conflicts in the ME) is trying to create an "Arab Spring" in KSA through violent means should be dealt with extremely harshly. The public has spoken on this matter too and NOBODY I repeat NOBODY will stop KSA from applying its laws.

Soon they (British tabloids) will make an article every time a Saudi Arabian farts. Yesterday it was a Saudi man kissing a maid that made headlines.

Meanwhile every 7 second a malnourished child dies in India and Africa.

What is ironic about stating a fact? Also should you not worry about the appalling situation of crime in India? I mean you guys never take a break when it comes to murder, rapes, street justice etc. it seems.

Each week I read about some poor Indian being lynched to death because of absurdities such as eating beef etc.

Instead of worrying about a criminal getting a deserved punishment worry about your own matters. No Saudi Arabian or Arab for that matter is interested in similar stories taking place in India. We have our own to worry about. So have you.

KSA is indeed one of the most cosmopolitan countries on the planet and home to 100's of different nationalities and ethnic groups. Hijaz (an ancient historical region of KSA next to the tropical Red Sea) is for instance one of the most diverse regions of the Muslim world and has been that since time immortal and especially for the past 1400 years due to hajj, umrah, trade etc.

There are almost 2 million Indians in KSA alone.

May be he thinks KSA is too far from Europe unlike Libya,Syria and Egypt to causes any serious concerns in future .

So Cosmopolitan, vibrant and accommodating that refugees are dying to be hosted in KSA.:P

It's only about Petro $$.

KSA lies next to Egypt. It's almost as close to Europe as Egypt. You don't seem to understand that KSA is the 12th biggest country on the planet and thus the geographical distances are quite huge.

How thick are you? KSA is hosting millions of foreigners including refugees. The largest numbers of Rohingyas live in KSA for instance. Over 2 million Syrians live in KSA as well.

No country in Asia hosts as many foreigners as KSA. So yes, if that is not being cosmopolitan then I don't know what is. You have almost every single nationality and ethnic group living in KSA.

Yes, in fact if KSA had not one of the most strictest VISA rules the country would be flooded with poor Africans, South Asians, Arabs, Middle Easterners etc. trying to improve their life.

That's not only due to that. Indians and South Asians have been doing trade with the Arabian Peninsula and Arab world since the first time that they appeared in history. Vice versa too. You seem to be unfamiliar with the history of your people but at least you have time to open a book or two and learn something useful.

Our discussion has nothing to do with the topic. Not interested in this topic anymore. Already stated my opinion. Find another person to discuss with.

What's wrong if fellow Arabians want to migrate for economic reasons ?:what:

History paints your country as invader too.:what:

Gotta agree with that.

They export seedy men who sexually harass women and flee home

@Saif al-Arab

What's with this 'crufixiion' thing? You realize this only gets attention in West because Western Christians believe this part of the death penalty is intended to mock Christianity. Otherwise they wouldn't care, and in reality there is no death penalty against the guy but he is in detention until further notice. Saudi's get rid of the 'humilation' aspect of it where he is put in public to warn others so Christians can stop crying. Both Muslims and Christians act too spoiled at some times.

Is not about terrorism , each country can export terror , like U.S or Europe .. they do that since the beginning of creation ... but i speak about Oil and Dollar , depending only on oil will make you weak .
