Sorry, Says Cameron After Accusing Iran of Having Nuclear Weapon

http://news.antiwar.com/2010/08/05/british-pm-on-his-claim-iran-has-nuclear-weapons-sorry/

With his office still trying to cope with outrage over his criticism of the Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip and his criticism of Pakistan’s government, British Prime Minister David Cameron caused another stir today by accusing Iran of possessing nuclear weapons.

Speaking about Turkey’s interest in joining the European Union, Cameron claimed that the membership could address problems “like the fact that Iran has got a nuclear weapon.” Iran, of course, does not have nuclear weapons. Some of Cameron’s aides admitted he “misspoke” and said he was “sorry,” while others maintained that “he is talking about the pursuit of a nuclear weapon.”

The opposition Labour Party was quick to mock Cameron, with one MP declaring “he is increasingly getting a reputation for being a foreign policy klutz, with two right feet, both of them firmly planted in his mouth.”

Cameron’s lack of clarity in his claims about Iran are likely to be of particular issue, however, as he used Iran’s fictional weapons program, along with the “Chinese threat,” as reasons for Britain spending large sums of money on new nuclear weapons of its own.

We can't trust the West or their media(s).

whats the point of him apologising, id sooner see him speaking the truth about the mass graves in indian occupied kashmir, lets just say for arguments sake the pakistan was supporting terrorism, if you compare the terror related deaths to the mass graves in kashmir, the indian war crimes far outweigh any terrorist organisation,

but indias o.k to the west because there women arent opressed by having to wear a hijaab,,,

This guy shows lack of political maturity. He utters whatever comes to his mind without even thinking once.

His words on Turkey, Iran India & Pakistan, all show immaturity.

He seems to be over excited and too eager to do things that he wants to do. He is changing Britain's stance on international issues over statement (not even over night!) His statements resemble more to the words of a construction site Foreman guiding labors to do the jobs rather than of a Prime Minister talking about serious international issues.

You're right, he is making mistakes all over the place.

Look what he said about China as well: http://www.newstatesman.com/blogs/mehdi-hasan/2010/04/china-russia-cameron-foreign

He said they needed Trident to deter the Chinese from attacking the UK with nuclear weapons! Madness... why on Earth would China nuke the UK? It doesn't make any sense at all, they are halfway across the world and have nothing to do with us at ALL. Might as well talk about Finland, for all the relevance it has!

Cameron just seems prone to making mistakes. In fairness I think they are genuine mistakes, rather than intentional malice. Still, a Prime minister should know better.

It is the most moronic argument if there ever could be. If there were no terrorists, why would India would keep and maintain such a big army in Kashmir. As I recall, they are not present in any other state. If Pakistan stopped waging deceitful wars and stopped supporting those terrorists, there won't be huge military presence and people in Kashmir would have been prosperous and peaceful.
