PESHAWAR: The Pakistani women, married to Afghan men, protested outside Peshawar Press Club on Monday, asking the government to stop forcefully repatriating the Afghan refugees.

“Our families have divided now,” cried Shamim Bibi, who was married to an Afghan refugee. “They have sent my husband to Afghanistan, who has also taken my sons along with him.”

She added her husband’s family had been living in Peshawar for the last several decades. Their families were related to each other, she said, so they got married.

these issues could be resolved amicably if the afghan government wasn't too smug when dealing with Pakistan but they have their heads too far up their own arse and its the common people who suffer

People married to Pakistani citizens should be eligible for legal naturalization, after a mandatory time frame.

.
Well, you guys made your choice.

Theres nothing we can do.

They should have foreseen this as they are not citizens of Pakistan. I think Pakistan should give exceptions to educated and married afghans who can help in development of Pakistan. Rest we can give back to afghanistan as they are not our problem.

.
It is interesting that in the Past (pre 1990), Afghans who had Pakistani spouses were ineligible for serving in the Foreign service and other elite Afghan institutions.

@A-Team -- interesting how karma comes full circle no?

Afghan refugees who are entrepreneurs -- have college or higher degrees should be afforded Pakistani citizenship -- sending them back to Afghanistan actually does Afghanistan a favor.

Plus so many of current day Pakistanis trace their heritage to Central Asia and Afghanistan.

Bibi should have gone with her husband.

Nisar said only Afghan women married to Pakistani men will be given citizenship. Maybe he should reconsider it, at least for those who have married for years now like this women.

What would have happened under normal circumstances should also happen now.

Bibi should have gone with her husband.

Children are probably involved as well.

.
That women should have protested first at Afghan husband for not taking her. Instead putting her husband blame on Pakistani Authorities.
