Call Centre Drug Addicts

Cmon people.Get back on topic wud ya?

The article unfortunately doesn't take a holistic approach on the stress factor. You would need to factor in that most BPO grunts are out-of-towners,fresh out of school/college and psyched to be working in an MNC.So what happens when they are given out generous payslips too? They do what they always fantasized about when they were students;getting wasted and partying all the time. With nobody to control their behavior and deep pockets armed by their call centre jobs, their behavior morphs into habits that they can't control. They lose sight of their long term goals and their careers hit a downward spiral.

I ain't blaming them although,it's a tempting life considering the booze and the chicks.Mercifully in my case,I still had to go back home with my mom standing on the porch with a frying pan in her hand so needless to say my stint at the call centre was a very short one!!!

.
So did our Punjab Police's logo ;)

and I never said, you screwed up.. It could be the 3rd rate site you posted your article from.. But then that makes you a viewer of a 3rd rate site :azn:
Nopes, the site is perfectly legit, however the author must have ended up with a third rate image....none the less by going into such length to salvage some points.......where does that put you. ??

I believe you were quite blunt, in your reply asking me to mind my time and space and top of that being blunt is not related to anybody's experience here (no offence) i said what i felt right and I believe you did the same, so what wrong I did in asking you a question as to why did you selected this topic, you being a experienced person would have clarified it then and there, but no there is some prejudice which is holding you back from answering my question and now you are calling me like "run and walk" syndrome patient. if you have started a thread asking questions about some problems (though its none of an issue here, part and parcel of the industry) in India then be ready to answer few question too.

Yes sir, to be quite honest I was and I am aware of this subject, its no issue here as it has been created in PDF moreover call centers(BPO) are getting phased out KPOs are taking there place with a parallel "software industry" both product and services.
and in the coming years with the help of new and budding entrepreneurs in India you will see a lot of activity in Manufacturing sector too.

Hope I made my point.

I selected the article because it effects us here in UK, i receive anything up to a dozen of these nuisance calls every week.
It's no rocket science to conclude that there must be a reason to post the study in a reputable British newspaper, hence it's not a solitary PDF issue. On the contrary, one could argue what relevance does the following thread, posted by an Indian member, holds on PDF" India signs umbrella pact with Maldives". There is a saying, "by focusing on a pointing finger, one becomes oblivious to spectrum in the distant Galaxy". !!

.
one can not stay awake at day and work at night...people have to reverse their daily activities.

Dont you have anything like DND (do not disturb) registration in UK. that could have saved us this thread.

thats y i asked you why

yes I cant stop you from asking any member whether indian or pakistani from asking you question, you should gladly ask if you have any doubts.

.
more over i would suggest clearing one's viewpoint behind starting the thread on that particular topic.

You also have the option to walk away. !!
thats y i asked you why
And that's why the link is there to render any anxieties.

Again, there is the option, don't like the heat....stay out of the kitchen.
Suffice to add, in an open public forum, everyone has a right to their opinion, you may question the authenticity of an article not the right to post or freedom of expression......unless off course one fancies himself to be in the MOD's shoes.

. .
Writting thousands of lines of codes based on instructions of chief software engineer or drawing disney characters is not considered as a "niche" industry. Indian wages may have increased but so had indian population and the number of job seekers as well as poors. Philiphines on the other hand is not undergoing population crisis. The large role in sacking of call center industry is the number of frauds which increased with the outsourcing of call centers as well as bad accents!

Yes it is, very negative indeed depending on the person qualification. Usually someone with a call center experience means they will be tough to converse with since they have gotten used to shoving few lines of selected sentences.

In my 15 years of software development and doing mutiple production install, I have not heard the term chief software engineer. Do you even have iota of experience in IT?

Dont nitpick yaar. He did not understand the original post, in which it was pointed out, we also have companies with niche products in addition to services companies.
Back to topic of call center workers. Nothing much to add really.!!!

I must again reiterate a DND must have saved considerable amount of your energy, also I can post the links from the same reputed tabloid to create much greater amount anxieties in you (but i restrained my self in my last post and again i am doing that, just for the sake of the thread).
lol you always avoid subject, we tried to add to article and asked few questions to you but you are always avoiding questions and creating lot of flutter. did you add anything else to the article except posting it here, public forums are discussions not for copy paste.

If anyone, it's you wasting your energy in futile digression.
By all means break the shackles and let your self loose....if you have anything to contribute from any source, you have the option to open as many thread as you deem fit, no point in running in circles.
On topic, I saw a relevant news item and posted it ( Also observe post#53).....now what's your dilemma. ???

If you say so.. here you go, we are already countering this issue and this article from (TIME) confirm that too, if you have any questions i will be more then happy to dissect the article for you.
India's Call-Center Jobs Go Begging - TIME

you might as well looks on the date of posting of both the articles, mine one is way posted way long back in 2007 which means we have identified and started working out on this issue, as a result of that work we are looking out at:
BPOs are getting phased out or you can say new niche industry getting in "KPO" (mine article too confirms that)
our youth is getting aware of health hazards of the BPOs, but due to handsome compensation they receive still they are getting lured out to that(mainly the fresh school pass outs or undergrads).
we cant outright stop them, as they were the first milestone in the Indian IT industries boom, more-over westerners are still figh ting for these low level jobs to get back.

So kindly you enlighten me if this solves your dilemma.
ware yo

Ah! the famous "dont count my screw ups " whine :).. An no going to lengths required if you know how to use google image search ;)

and to your question, it puts me on the right side of plagiarism... unlike the magazine you quoted your article from ... :)

Working in night shift is not new phenomena. Nurses, medical professional, security personal have been working for ages.
It will take them some time to adjust as most of the call center workers are very young.

About pakistani posting it: Sour grapes.
