Cabinet body okays direct purchase of 1 lakh tonne rice from India

Thanks. I stand corrected then.

It is ridiculous though- rice, our staple food which we produce in such vast amounts, costs more than wheat, which we must depend on imports. That is absolutely not natural.
BD has about 21 million acres of farmlands and it produces two crops in a year. Even then the country has a shortage of all kinds of foods including rice, the staple food because its yield is very low comparing to other major rice-producing countries. I am not sure of India, though.

But, Taiwan, Japan, S.Korea or the Burmese yield per acre is much higher than BD. They have better quality lands and BD lands lack many organic matters. So, the yield is low although the farmers spread a lot of INORGANIC fertilizers. I think you know what are these fertilizers.

Coincidentally, I am watching this video as I read your post. At one point you will see some farmers complain about switching from rice farming due to lack of profit. Many are switching to other cash crops instead and Alhamdulillah seeing a good profit.

I actually understood your bengali loooool
In the morning all bengalis eat roti

Good for you brother. :-)

During Shab-e-barat times most families make Roti from rice powder for meals (Chawal ki roti or akki ki roti).

That is combined with Halwa of various types, Carrot, Chana boot, Soji (even Karachi/Bombay Halwa) etc.

To say I am a fan is an understatement. These are also Ramadan/Iftaar items for larger spreads.

Speaking of which - Happy Ramadan Kareem to everyone.

@Bilal9 You know I stayed 3 months once in Dhaka.
Dhanmandi opposite BDR

I loved it. Nice place nice people but terrible traffic.
Went to modipur jungle and many other places. Beautiful country. Damn these politicians

Yes brother. Our people in Pakistan and Bangladesh have little differences between one another but politics makes needless enemies. One day all these saajish and hatred will be past history.

Traffic situation will be taken care of soon using MRT/BRT/expressways hopefully...

I hope you can visit Bangladesh again soon. :-)

BD is a very densely populated country, if it fails to produce 100% of own consumption and needs to import small amounts what is the shame in it. Anyway it is paying for it in hard cash from its export earnings, not begging it in charity.

Regards

Your continual efforts to be "Kabab-me-Haddi" is well-noted.

Don't know who asked you as an Indian to speak for us. :-)

These old tricks of sowing distrust, disunity, chaos and fishing in muddy waters do not work anymore.

I know, you have heard of the proverb, "To carry coal to New Castle". BD has vast farmland and two rice crops are produced. But, it is inefficient somehow due to discouragement by the govt authorities.

Probably, some govt people earn one or two pice when rice is imported. So, they keep the local rice price low to discourage production, and then import from countries like India.

Do not you think it is shameful to our country?
