The Tories are in an interesting position now. Do they topple May, or do they force her into a position through resignations where she is forced to call a general election?
If they Topple her internally, they can elect a new leader amongst themselves and not have to fight a general election to gain power. It's a quicker route to power, but it comes with all the problems of dealing with Brexit and being associated with all the economic and social backlash that will follow in the next few years.
If they resign and force her to call an election, they risk not getting a majority and having to wait for either a May led minority government, or a weak Labour/SNP coalition to bumble through brexit for the next few years. This route is longer, but I defintely think - whichever government deals with the first few years of Brexit will lose the next election they contest. At this point whoever the opposition is, will stand the best chance of making it into power.
For the Hard brexiteers the best opportunity of a power grab is now, for the rest of the tories, the long game is probably better (post brexit, the country will be wanting a more centralist figure in think).
Personally I see an election coming.
Bit too much of a liability in some areas, need someone on the straight and narrow.
What we need and what we'll get are two different things.
Also I never had
@waz down as a Tory, always assumed you were a Blairite.
