Do you think a general election will be called?

.
I think we might see an early general election as next few days will be much more interesting. There is definitely a big split coming in Tory partly.

Nope, public is tired, and we only just had one. She needs to go.

Who are in the wings to take over would you say? Which of them would you personally prefer?

David Davis as stand in.
He has a lot of respect around the world. He won’t capitulate, and he’s served his country (ex SAS). He ran for leadership when Cameron ran.

Any chance that Boris takes over? I think he is a dark horse.

The Tories are in an interesting position now. Do they topple May, or do they force her into a position through resignations where she is forced to call a general election?

If they Topple her internally, they can elect a new leader amongst themselves and not have to fight a general election to gain power. It's a quicker route to power, but it comes with all the problems of dealing with Brexit and being associated with all the economic and social backlash that will follow in the next few years.

If they resign and force her to call an election, they risk not getting a majority and having to wait for either a May led minority government, or a weak Labour/SNP coalition to bumble through brexit for the next few years. This route is longer, but I defintely think - whichever government deals with the first few years of Brexit will lose the next election they contest. At this point whoever the opposition is, will stand the best chance of making it into power.

For the Hard brexiteers the best opportunity of a power grab is now, for the rest of the tories, the long game is probably better (post brexit, the country will be wanting a more centralist figure in think).

Personally I see an election coming.

Bit too much of a liability in some areas, need someone on the straight and narrow.

What we need and what we'll get are two different things.

Also I never had @waz down as a Tory, always assumed you were a Blairite. :)

Hardcore conservative brother, but not a Tory if that makes sense. My values align somewhat, especially regarding Brexit.
Oh I hate Blair with a passion, horrible traitor.

Good post by the way.

So I use conservative and Tory interchangeably? How do you distinguish?

Or do you mean conservative as in your political opinions are conservative in their nature, but you're not a member of the party (ie a Tory).

Personally I'm a socialist, not a communist but definitely left leaning labour. Just a shame we're being represented so poorly by Jeremy Corbyn. The left always fails to attract the strong leaders in modern times.

Well a Tory is loyal regardless of policy, that's not the case with me. I'm for equality of income and wealth, which leads to me clashing with most Tories, I'm anti-fracking and pro-environment and anti hunting which also leads to me being at loggerheads with them. However I'm patriotic to the core, pro-forces, pro-brexit, believe in liberal trade polices and so on.
So a conservative but not Tory.
