C-130J crashes in Gwalior

. . .
Knowing your arrogance for indigenizing (screwing up) platforms, I'm sure you guys messed about with the avionics as well!!

Secondly, if you didn't, then either your flight crew or maintenance crew screwed up. You can pick which one at leisure, either way doesn't look good for you guys!!

Yeah.... your comment clearly shows that you are an aviation specialist... so we do not have to wait for the results of the investigation, since you already spoke.

The Rajya Sabha was informed that over the past 40 years, India had lost more than half of its MiG combat fleet of 872 aircraft. The minister disclosed that "482 MiG aircraft accidents took place till April 19, 2012".

Antony also revealed that these crashes led to the loss of precious lives of 171 pilots, 39 civilians and eight persons from other services. The minister went on to state that the cause of the accidents were "both human error and technical defects".

Half of Indian MiG's Crashed C-130 Joins the Club one of the safest Aircraft i mean SAFEST and not to forget MIG 27 29 and Helicopters Ships and Subs 3 drown in a month...

Admit it guys IAF pilots are poorly trained... RIP to the Crew...

list of PAF's c-130 crashes:

  • August 18, 1965 : C-130B 12648 of the Pakistan Air Force was written off after it veered off runway on landing.
  • July 15, 1966 : C-130B 24142 of the Pakistan Air Force (6 Squadron) crashed into mountain in Pakistan. All ten aboard killed.[68]
  • April 30, 1968 : L-100 64145 of the Pakistan Air Force, crashed when wing broke in turbulence near Chaklala, Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
  • July 8, 1969 : C-130B 24390 of the Pakistan Air Force burned out during refuelling at Islamabad – as of October 1986, hull was on dump at Islamabad.
  • March 4, 1970 : C-130B 24389 of the Pakistan Air Force, (6 Squadron), written off.
  • February 1, 1979 : C-130B 23488 of the Pakistan Air Force jumped chocks during night engine test run, collided with 10687 and was written-off.
  • February 1, 1979 : C-130E 10687 of the Pakistan Air Force hit by 24388 when it jumped chocks during night engine test run, written-off. Hull at Lahore, June 1981.
  • August 17, 1988 : C-130H 23494 of the Pakistan Air Force crashed shortly after take off from Bahawalpur killing all on board including Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, President of Pakistan from 1978, the US ambassador to Pakistan, a US general and 17 top ranking Pakistan Army personnel. Two of the scheduled passengers who did not board the aircraft later reached the highest rank in Pakistan Army, chiefly because most of their seniors died in this incident. One of them was General Mirza Aslam Baig, as Chief of Army Staff. Although many people do not consider this an accident, neither Pakistan nor the US government properly investigated the incident and made the findings public. Some researchers claim that there was a bomb hidden in the mango crates which were loaded on the plane without proper clearance. Eyewitnesses claim that the aircraft exploded in the air. Such claims were declared false by the government and the remains of the aircraft were swiftly disposed of.[69] Some of the remains are still there in crash lab of Air Safety Institute, PAF base Masroor, claearly showing the chipped off blades of the destroyed engines (i.e. running at normal) and explosion as the most probable cause.
  • September 1o, 1998 : Five crewmen (2 pilots and 3 FEs) were killed and four more were injured when a Pakistan Air Force C-130 went out of control after brake fire and hit a parked C-130 at the PAF Chaklala base. Both the aircrafts were written off...

"The Indian government decided not to sign the Communications Interoperability and Security Memorandum of Agreement (CISMOA), which resulted in the exclusion of high precision GPS and other sensitive equipment. However the IAF added similar equipment produced indigenously to the aircraft after delivery."

Induction of C-130J in Indian Armed Forces - General Knowledge Today
So thats the Reason Its C-130j Crashed !!! Dumb Logic .We Also Operate P8I and C-17 Globe master III which have Much More Advance Components. Has there Any Crash No. The C-130j Was Special Operation Aircraft It Was ON TFT (Tactical Flight Training ) Flying At Very Low Altitude When it Crashed there Must Be many reason of its Crash.Mod Inquiry have Started With the Help of Lockheed Martin And Plane Black Box is Found We Will See Exactly what is the Reason for Plane Crash.

If look into years you will find out that most of these years were years when US put restrictions on Pakistan which includes parts as well

I have to agree with you on that, no other AF in the world has so much experience of crashing planes of all types, sizes and origins.

No official word from the IAF but reasoned assumptions can be made especially by professionals who have a knowledge on such things. It makes sense that this was a low-level insertion training mission considering the crash, where it happened and what these air lifters are for in the IAF i.e. designated Spec Ops.

I think @SpArK also mentioned this was a formation drop and there was another Herc flying with it.

Let's wait until the official report comes out anyway, until then it is all just speculation and he said she said.

Sir your assesment is wrong
1st we purchased 2nd hand c-130s from usa
reason of crash after 1965 is due to shortage of spare parts due to sanctions from usa
and Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq case is totally different for that u google it
but u purchased brand new aircraft from usa
so find reason of crash of iaf c-130 not pakistan

Indian media: Questions over defence equipment safety

_73917597_iaf-1.jpg

The Super Hercules is the Indian Air Force's most-advanced transporter plane

The crash of the Indian Air Force's (IAF) latest transport plane has renewed concerns over the safety of the country's defence equipment, papers say.

The US-made C-130J Super Hercules plane crashed on Friday, killing its crew of five, near Gwalior in the central state of Madhya Pradesh during a routine flight exercise.

"The crash comes on the back of a series of accidents in the navy - starting with the submarine INS Sindhurakshak explosion in August last year to the INS Sindhuratna mishap in February - that forced navy chief DK Joshi to resign,"The Times of Indiasays.

The paper adds that "over the years, the IAF has lost too many servicemen and aircraft to such mishaps. Unless rectified forthwith, the problem poses a serious threat to the country's defence preparedness".

The black box of the jet has been sent to the manufacturing firm, Lockheed Martin, in the US for "decoding", reports say.

"To avoid any loss of data while trying to decode the equipment, we have decided to send the black box to the US,"The Hindu quotes an IAF spokesperson as saying.

India had purchased six C-130J Super Hercules aircraft from the US in 2011.

The crashed C-130J aircraft was on a routine exercise

Meanwhile, in domestic politics, the president of the ruling Congress Party, Sonia Gandhi, and the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi severely criticised each other in separate rallies on Sunday, reports say.

Mrs Gandhi said the BJP spreads the "politics of hatred" and asked the people not to believe their "false promises" at an election rally in the north-eastern state of Assam,The Indian Expressreports.

Mr Modi criticised Mrs Gandhi for allowing the former chief minister of Maharashtra, Ashok Chavan, to contest elections despite allegations of corruption against him.

"Sonia Gandhi justifies arguing that Ashok Chavan has not been barred from contesting polls. The fact is Congress and corruption are integral to their politics," the paper quotes Mr Modi as saying during a rally in Maharashtra.

the photo shows it is inverted, so that means loss of control due to several reasons.

the photo shows it is inverted, so that means loss of control due to several reasons.

So you think the aircraft dove inverted into the ground? Under what circumstances do you think an aircraft type with over a million flying hours will do that? I believe the answer to why this aircraft crashed is simple (pilot error)but hard to swallow for many Indians.

There is nothing to be ashamed of, the IAF train like they fight which means the safety margin during a peace time exercise is the same as during a war time military operation. The C-130J pilot had no margin for error during a routine training exercise, a lapse in judgement, fatigue or in cockpit distraction may have easily caused this low flying aircraft to crash.

The lesson to take away from this is likely to increase those margins so lives are not lost and pilots can learn from their mistakes.
