What's new

Bus carrying engineers reportedly exploded on Wednesday.

We have money for tanks, jets, frigates, submarines, MPAs, corvettes and what not... A MRAP costs a fraction of that.
are you sure that MRAP can protect you from an SVBIED... shields are not the answer, you got to have swords...MRAP MRAP MRAP MRAP, everyone on this forum is obsessed with passive measures like MRAP.
2ndly idea of taking literally hundreads of civilian workers of civilian companies in MRAPs to worksites is...absurd

.
Somewhere around 2015, Chinese president Xi Jing Ping has raised the security concerns regrading safety of Chinese working on CPEC with the top leadership of Pak. PA has raised a new security division in GB in 2016. Then there was a attack in Gwadar hotel and Pak raised another security division for Gwadar. This recent attack on bus is the biggest attack on Chinese in Pak as far as number of causalities are concerned.

This time PA leadership is clueless what they are gonna do it.

Calm down tiger, Not sure why, but for some strange reason WPADA was in charge of the security and not the army. That has been changed now...

It wasn't a SVBIED, secondly, it would've faired better than a bus.

If the events narrated by Fahd Hussain of how it unfolded is true it seems a little though not majorly similar to the Johar town blast. A Car packed with explosives that went undetected just as that one and the fact that no group has claimed it as of yet too.

Corruption has ruined Education system and Education system has ruined possibility of competent leadership.
Competent leadership is supposed to start a war in the region on the basis of perceptions of some individuals - a war which WE may not win or which may result in far greater loss of lives than in the present?

Some members here don't think before they type a response - aadat say majboor hain bus. Harr waqt doosron ko puundo batoon mein.

WE are not dealing with an army but terrorists who blend among masses and strike as soon as they see an opportunity. The logical course of action is to continue to improve our security regime and eliminate terrorists when they are noticed.

As one Chinese member pointed out, they are not allowed to roam freely in Pakistani streets. They experience many travel restrictions already. Now let us place them in heavily armored vehicles. Good going at this rate.

Responses should be developed according to nature of threats and how to deal with them. Directly attacking another country is a road to nowhere.

After, the 27 Feb response, I now feel that we shd not have responded (before i was doubting our armed forces capabilities), bcz the exposed RF jamming gap was a trump card. So, i realise now they know their job very well (for sure how, but when)

However, i feel we don't give tit for tat response to RAW generally. Like attacks on FCs personals. We kill the 'engineers' in afghanistan but totally ignore the 'architects'.

Operation Swift Retort was a good move to draw a line for India to not cross while addressing Pakistan - job well done in this case. Indian Modi Sarkar decided to harass Pakistan in other ways instead.

If any country benefits from this incident, it is India - this is rather obvious. Earlier incident of a bomb blast in Lahore also have Indian footprint on it (i.e. predictable target). These moves are being planned and executed in the manner that India can maintain plausible deniability if questioned directly. Indian Modi Sarkar is creating pressure on Pakistan to let go of Kashmir, or to draw OUR attention away from it while they attempt to absorb it. They know very well how vocal PM Imran Khan can be in regards to Kashmir.

Pakistani PM and FM refused to shake hand(s) of the Indian MEA S. Jaishankar in the Uzbekistan Connectivity Summit for good reason.

Indian Modi Sarkar probably wants Pakistan to lash out in anger towards it in response to one of the incidents inside Pakistan - something which they can use to build a narrative against Pakistan? The agenda might be to get Pakistan blacklisted in FATF?

I am all for teaching India another lesson but OUR moves shouldn't be grounded in emotions and miscalculated because WE are in a tight spot as well - WE have a struggling economy, FATF pressure, and a chaotic Afghanistan to cope with in the present.

Pakistan - China is a solid regional duo in theory but it is not easy to counter-harass India because it is a big country and receiving much attention from USA which have its own axe to grind against China lately. So what shall WE do in this situation? The only option left is to fight another war with India and see what happens. Whatever is the outcome of it, WE will have to live with it.

OR

Following are important considerations for now:

1. Pakistan should continue to look at options to improve its internal security situation and facilitate CPEC projects.

2. Pakistan should try its best to not create NEW enemies for itself.

3. Pakistan should maintain its COIN posture; War On Terror must continue in view of developments in Afghanistan and borders must be fenced and monitored more efficiently than before.

Pakistan needs to create an environment which is conducive for Foreign investments and rebuild its economy.

Imagine the perks of having both a Strong Economy and a Calculative Foreign Policy? This would be a Pakistan that cannot be isolated and will have sufficient military muscle for India to reconsider its games. It might also be possible to resolve Kashmir at some point.

It is important to have goals and a strategy to accomplish them. Fighting one war after another is a sure shot pathway to ruin.

Long-term strategic thinking is the hallmark of a Competent leadership. My 2 cents.

I know it was necessary. I am happy it was calculated and not irrational retaliation. I was just pointing out, that though it restored our faith in the capabilities of our armed forces, but the giveaway (non-software defined radio) was too much precious. Similarly, for this incident, our forces can respond but they also know when to, so I trust their wisdom now with more conviction. May be they are using Chinese analogy that we can wait.

That is a valid point that they may want our knee jerk reaction. I think we should really focus now internally, and at our western border. Let's assure that the western asia trade route remain safe in Afg and Pakistan. So, we should focus on internal surveillance through digital means and through drones.

I agree, it is better to secure internal defence so that RAW cannot operate the same and, as a result FDI/investor can invest freely.

I second that we should adopt 'we can wait' strategy. With rise in hindutva extremism, we don't have to do much. Let's focus on internal security and on our trade routes from China and from Tajikistan/Uzbekistan. God willingly, even with Iran (after sanctions). As indian internal situation won't affect us, as much as Afghanistan internal situation will do.

How did you come up with a conclusion of attacking another country. We are talking about lack of competent workforce in every institution of Pakistan. Defense and security is not immune to overall Pakistan’s Education system.

We can make excuses what could have, should have or is being done, but fact of a matter is that, so far policymakers in defense establishment has failed to properly tackle the issue.

This type of warfare requires tightening internal surveillance, security, prosecution and external punitive actions (covert operations) to let the sponsors know there is a cost to their adventure.

How much damage has Pakistan meted out to R&AW since this incident, heck even since June 27th?

The enemy has not been deterred from commiting another misadventure.

COIN phase is over. Pakistan was successful in routing out large scale militancy. Security Establishment needs to stop flipping pages from American provided COIN book and start thinking own their own. US wasn’t fight inside their borders. RoEs and tactics aren’t the same. What Pakistan needs is to study, How US Dept of Homeland Security and FBI along with dozen other agencies operates inside US. The fusion of external and internal intelligence, mass surveillance and prevention of attacks in planing phase.

These are well organised, well resourced and paid well terrorists. They are hindjew supported no doubt so what is Pakistan doing about it? Our PM is pussying footing pacifism and is side tracking the military from what it should be doing: taking the war to the enemy.
