Burma Military Captain, Squadron Killed by AA Rebels in N. Rakhine A photo posted on the Arakan Army

Why only JF-17 fighters? Why not your country sends a few regiments of brave martial race soldiers to Burma to fight the AA. You should reciprocate Burma you guys fled in 1971 through Burmese land. The martial race troops will soon, however, give up fighting, flee to Indian territory as they did in 1971 and surrender to the Hindu IA troops there.
you should be thankful to your hindu overlords for saving your ***
had the not exhausted already 1:50 outnumbered Pakistani troops who were fighting 1000 miles away from home
your independence would still be a wet back stabbing and treachery is in your DNA thats what you bongs are known for and unironically you even take pride in it

.
@Homo Sapiens you can call a mod.

Your hope is misplaced. China did not hand over those plane to Burmese military without thinking about the security of various ethnic controlled territories along the border of China and Thailand. Do you think Chinese are that fool that, they will unilaterally provide Burmese the lethal weapons so that they can go for an all out onslaught against the various ethnic groups and resulting a large refugee crisis in China's border? Hell no.

I am sure along with those 6 JF-17 fighters, an unverified number of 'Made in China' Anti-aircraft guns and MANPADS reached rebel groups. Arakan Army maintain close relation with those rebels based on northern and eastern sides of Burma. In fact Arakan Army's headquarter is in Kachin State, bordering China.

So, it is very likely that Arakan army has adequate deterrence against 6 JF-17 fighter jet. You should not deluded yourself that those rebel groups are just running on thin air for the last 70 years and a couple of JF-17 will cause their obliteration just because paint job of those plane happened to be in Pakistan.
Manpads won't do shit against JFT.Burma hasn't got enough resources for fighting these groups, they can go and bomb them using PGM's but they don't have troops for effective ground coverage.
Above all many of these groups are controlled by West also.

Military Captain, Squadron Killed by AA Rebels in N. Rakhine

YANGON — A Myanmar military, or Tatmadaw, captain and his entire squad were killed during a clash with troops of the Arakan Army (AA) in a remote area of northern Rakhine State’s Buthidaung Township on Friday, according to military sources and relatives of the victims.

Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun of the Office of the Commander in Chief acknowledged that Capt. Chit Ko Ko was killed along with some other troops in a battle with the AA on Friday. He declined to provide a total death toll of army troops.

A long-time friend of Capt. Chit Ko Ko, Saw Lwin Saw, wrote a post on his Facebook page on Friday claiming that the crew comprised not more than 20 soldiers led by Capt. Chit Ko Ko was ordered by their commander to attack AA fighters in Buthidaung’s War Net Yone region situated near the border with Bangladesh on Friday.

The squad was unexpectedly surrounded on every side by AA rebels. In the fighting, his friend was hit with a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) and afterwards, other government troops were not able to retrieve his body, he said.

Saw Lwin Saw said that his friend had been on duty in Monywa, Sagaing Region, but was recently summoned for reinforcement to Ann Township, Rakhine State where the military’s Western Command has their base. Some Facebook users took to the social media platform to criticize Capt. Chit Ko Ko’s senior commander for failing to supply additional troops while his crew was surrounded.

The Arakan Army (AA) announced battle updates via its website on Saturday, reporting that its fighters had fought with about 150 military troops from the Ann-based Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) No. 373 in the War Net Yone region, close to the border on Friday and that about 12 government soldiers were killed.

The AA posted photos a number of pieces of military equipment which they seized from LIB No.373 troops, including a 9 mm pistol which is commonly used by high-ranking officers in the Myanmar military, a 60 mm mortar, four artillery shells, seven assault rifles, one remote control jammer, one RPG, more than one thousand 5.56 ammunition rounds and other military accessories.

According to the AA announcement, it clashed with government troops in Buthidaung, Kyauktaw and Mrauk-U townships in the first week of April. It stated that fighting in Kyauktaw Township’s Phauk Pe mountain range killed at least three government soldiers on Friday and up to 10 in battles on Saturday.

Last month, the President’s Office spokesperson U Zaw Htay told reporters in Naypyitaw that at least 12 civilians have been killed in battles between the military and the AA within three months.

Last Wednesday, a military helicopter attack at Buthidaung Township’s Saidin waterfall, where several hundred Rohingya were harvesting bamboo and making rafts, killed at least six and wounded more than 10 Rohingya.

U Zaw Htay said the government military had killed a total of 58 AA fighters while the AA and other Arakanese civil society groups pointed out that most of the victims were shot dead by government troops in their villages without armed engagement and that 27 police had been killed but he refused to answer questions on the total death toll of military troops. Between December 2018 and April 2019, the army admitted three times that high ranking officers, including majors and captains, were shot dead by the AA without elaborating on the specific number of deaths.

In March, the AA seized a temporary tactical base belonging to the military in Buthidaung Township which borders Chin State’s Paletwa Township.

This news is a gift to @Aung Zaya. He should be happy to note that BD is not involved yet so many clashes in Arakan. How your ragtag military will contest the rebellion?

BDs enemies killing each other.... bring on the popcorns i say..... BD needs to ensure steps to liquidate any rakhine seeking to cross the border...

Fighting in Rakhine State Claims Myanmar Officer, as Many as 20 Soldiers

The Arakan Army said Tuesday that its forces killed a Myanmar Army officer and about 20 government soldiers late last week in ongoing clashes between the two militaries in western Myanmar's embattled Rakhine state, a casualty count for which the secretive government military offered a rare confirmation.

The announcement by the AA initially said that a dozen government soldiers, including a captain, died on the morning of April 5 during a clash between the AA and the government’s 150-strong Light Infantry Battalion No. 373 near War Nat Yone village in Buthidaung township.
But AA spokesman Khine Thukha later told RFA's Myanmar Service that as many as 20 Myanmar troops were killed.

“It was Light Infantry Division No. 373 based in Ann township,” he said. “It clashed with AA troops, which resulted in heavy losses that day. Information that came later put the death toll at as many as 20, so I would say there were nearly 20 deaths, including a military officer.”

The AA’s announcement also said that its soldiers seized assorted weapons, including a pistol and other military equipment, from the government troops.

In a rare disclosure of Myanmar Army casualties, Brigadier General Zaw Min Tun of the military’s information team told RFA that one officer and “some soldiers” were killed in the April 5 battle.

“A military officer was killed,” he said. “It was posted on his personal [Facebook] account. He was not of a major rank. There were also some deaths and injuries in the other ranks as well, but this is not an official account of the death toll from the military.”

Social media and obituary pages in state-owned newspapers said the deceased officer was Captain Chit Ko Ko from Light Infantry Division No. 373, who graduated in the 49th class from Myanmar’s Military Academy.

Neither the Myanmar military nor state-owned media have made any official announcements about the April 5 clash during which the officer and other soldiers died. The AA’s reported numbers would make that day the most deadly one for the army since the conflict heated up early this year.

Zaw Min Tun also said that so far this week the Myanmar Army had fought heavy battles with AA troops in Mrauk-U township and had captured two hilltops where enemy troops were based.

“There were clashes in Mrauk-U region yesterday and two days ago,” he said. “In Mrauk-U, we captured two of AA’s temporary bases.”

But AA spokesman Khine Thukha denied the report.

“There were no such clashes,” he told RFA. “We don’t have any bases as they mentioned. I don’t know which bases they had captured. We don’t have any bases in that area.”

More than 100 civilians, AA soldiers, Myanmar Army troops, and policemen have died during fighting since early January, when the hostilities escalated after Arakan fighters carried out deadly attacks on police outposts in northern Rakhine.

Rakhine state’s Disaster Management Department has estimated than more than 31,000 villagers have been displaced by the clashes.

Still in detention

Meanwhile, the AA told RFA that eight construction workers it apprehended on March 30 on suspicion of being spies for the Myanmar Army are still in detention and have not been killed according to rumors circulating in Myanmar and neighboring Bangladesh.

The AA accused the workers from the Su Htoo San Company, which is building the Paletwa-Mizoram highway to connect Myanmar and India, of being former military intelligence agents who were gathering information about the Arakan force for the Myanmar Army, though the government military denied it.

AA spokesman Khine Thukha said that the rumors that all eight men have been murdered are not true.

“This is totally wrong,” he said. “We never commit arbitrary killings. These are just rumors.”

“The men are being detained in dignity and in good conditions,” he added. “We are only conducting necessary questioning for security. We haven’t committed any lawless killings.”

But Khine Thukha refused to reveal evidence to back up his claim that the detainees are military intelligence agents, citing security concerns.

Brigadier General Zaw Min Tun said that the Myanmar military investigated the men and determined that they are not former military intelligence personnel.

“We have investigated these people as much as we needed to,” he said. “They are ordinary civilians and private company employees. They are not even government staff. ”

The Myanmar military has seen the same rumors that the men are dead spreading in Bangladesh, he added.

“We are still trying to confirm it because the news sources are not reliable,” he said. “They are written in Bengali script, so they appear to be released from the Bangladeshi side, but I can’t say this for sure.”

What a desperate attempt to link Arakan Army with Bangladesh by the burmese junta. As the death toll of it's soldiers are mounting, so are the desperation.

why does Myanmar military need a JF-17 jets to attack rebels ? helicopter gunships would be more appropriate

Yes, but fighter jets also used. United States regularly use F-16 to destroy Taliban hideout in Afghanistan.

Buddhists or Muslims, the Rakhine region has been more connected with the Sultanate of Bengal before it was gifted to the Bamars of Burma by the British only recently.

The region west of Yommu mountain should come back to the fold of mainland Bangladesh. Religion is no longer a factor. Bd already has a sizeable number of Buddhists near the border with Arakan.

. . . .
Myanmar will clean up them .
Just because they operate 'Painted in Pakistan' JF-17 jet now? These insurgencies raging on for 70 years. Longest running insurgencies in the world. It will continue eternity if burmese ultra-buddhist do not change their mentality and behavior.
