That is incorrect, the mixture of Arab Migrants with local Burmese converts are called Zerbadi. Rohingya are migrants from Bengal whose dialect advanced differently because of the break off from their Bengali counterparts. The issue is not whether or not that is true, most historians accept it as such the issue is when they arrived and whether or not that means they do not deserve citizenship. Afaik the only Muslim group the Burmese recognize as indigenous are the Kamein.

@KingMamba Zerbadis are part of the larger Rohingya ethnicity. The Arab, Afghan or other Muslim migrants from the Middle Ages through sea route mainly settled in the Chittagong and Rakhine area, then known as Arakan. The only Muslims in the Rakhine state are the Rohingyas. Kameins are purely local converts and have the same mongoloid physical structure which is why they got the recognition.

About the language, Rohingya language is indeed influenced by Bengali but then even the Chittagongian dialect is also influenced by the Burmese language, that doesn't make the Chittagongians as Burmese.
