Burger King's wildly popular Impossible Whopper, a plant-based patty modeled after its most iconic sandwich, has officially landed in stores nationwide. And after more than a few days of non-stop buzz, I knew it was time to give it a try for myself.

Now I've done the whole Impossible Burger taste test before. I'm no novice here, people. But let's get one thing straight, there's a difference between your run-of-the-mill cheeseburger and BK's signature sammie. For one, the menu classic, which has been around since 1957, is really f*cking big—it's stacked with a 1/4-pound of flame-grilled beef, tomatoes, mayo, ketchup, pickles, and sliced white onions on top a sesame seed bun.

The Impossible version is the same...except obviously the beef is substituted with 1/4 pound of plant-based protein from Impossible Foods.

I had mixed emotions as I headed out for a Whopper run. On one hand, fans have been raving over the limited-edition launch! Sales are through the roof! But the last time I ventured to BK on a work day was for the chain's tacos, and that definitely, um, didn't go as planned.

I ordered a few to-go burgers for my co-workers, some with cheese and some without, and headed back to Delish HQ for an official evaluation. And let me just tell you, Burger King has officially redeemed themselves for that whole taco debacle. I took bite after bite and had to do a quick double check on the receipt that I wasn't in fact eating meat. It tasted nearly identical to an OG Whopper.

My co-workers agreed, too, all swearing they would actually order it for themselves. "It was so good! Honestly very convincing as meat," one noted. "Def satisfies the fast food craving."

I've sung the praises of Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat before, and I'm doing it again. The flavor, texture, and look are all impressive. And while I detected a slight aftertaste to the patty, as one editor so aptly pointed out, "doesn't all fast food?"

So today I myself did a side-by-side taste test like the one above and I have to say I was impressed. If somebody switched the burger without telling me I probably would not have noticed.

@jamahir science has pulled through yet again for those veggie people.

Seen the commercial for what seems like a gazillion times already.

I don’t eat a lot of fast food, But might give that one a try one of these days.

Speaking of Burger King, I think they have better burgers than McDonald’s, With the opposite being McDonald’s fries are better than the Kings. JMO

I always liked McD's burgers over BK's even though In-N-Out trumps em all in fast food chains. Personally, I feel BK's burgers, nuggets & fries feel like wet paper dipped in batter and fried.

Tasted the impossible burger today and I have to admit it's pretty awesome

I have no In and Out in my neck of the woods (as far as I know) the closest thing to that where I am would be “Five Guys”

As far as Burgers are concerned, I forgot to mention Wendy’s. I feel like they have a really decent burger as far as fast food goes.

Five Guys is pretty good but too heavy for me...In-N-Out is a west coast thing though

Indians have been eating veggie burgers since 1980s, with Patties made out of Alloo ,Paneer and Soya chaap.
If only Nirula's had the forsight to launch veggie burgers in USA, when McDonald's and Burger King came to India and took over it's market

Ah, okay. So the Impossible Burger will be now a regular on your plate ??

And tell me, is 14 dollars a costly price in America or reasonable ??

What about Synthetic Meat, is any company selling them to the eaters in USA ??

?

The $14 was for 2 Burgers, 2 fries, and two drinks.
I think the burger was $5.19 or something where I bought it. Not bad for such a big burger.

It's not that easy.
Veggie burgers take technology to make, technology that South Asia does not have. Especially in the 80s and 90s

Also you can't use Indians as an example as they are forced to eat potatoes and paneer burgers since they don't meat.

The west does not have that tradition so it would not have stood a chance.
Just look at the hoola burger by Mcdonalds. It was a basic veggie burger and didn't even get off the ground.
