The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology or BUET has moved to ban all types of political activities on its campus and expelled 19 students with suspected ties to the murder of Abrar Fahad in keeping with the demands of student protesters.




The decision was announced at the start of Vice-Chancellor Saiful Islam’s meeting with a student delegation at the university’s auditorium around 5:30 pm on Friday following five days of protests on the campus.

Why was he killed? Was it his demand to ban politics in university?

He was killed because he spoke against anti Bd agreements with India made by choorni Indian kaneez La Hasina.

I got it very well . Let me ask you a question if you really got the story . Tell me if some one kill me and preach that @Al-zakir was responsible of the killing of @Atlas ? Can anything be proven from this ? Indeed both students were the supporter of AL . And also killers got arrested including the Hindu Amit saha ! So it's clear that govt is actively trying to give punishment to killers . Now if you claim that it's a drama of sheikh Hasina , then what else I can say ?

It's easy to blame opposite political parties , but it's very hard to prove something ! Yes Hasina gave water to India to drinnk . It was 1.82 cusec .It made us disappointed for right reason . It is very true that he was killed because he spoke against the deal of Hasina , but there is no proof that hasina ordered this killing ! There are lots of enemy agents are in Bangladesh hiding in every corner , so they can do it to harm the reputation of Bangladesh . And already the killers are detained and expelled from BCl , just like few corrupted peoples are out from BCL and Zubo leage .

However lets back to the main topic again . students politics is a tool to destroy society , and enemies can use this tool to divide and rule us . And that's why we should be conscious about politics that will be for mankind . So let's start with student politics . Then lets finish teacher politics and later politics in every institute that are already named by BNP and AL. Let's make non political organizations stronger . Then if govt ( any govt) try to do any dalali or loot , it's non political common folks who will come to street as they came during quota movement and safe street movement .

But first depoliticization of most of the institution/organization in Bangladesh first , then I believe bangladesh will be prevailed .

Root cause of all the problems in Bd is Hasina and her cronies. Only way out of this mass is eliminate this demon from Bd soil.

Students Union election itself is the mother of all political rivalry and grouping that brings in the support of political parties or their affiliate hooligans on the Campus. So, without first dissolving the Students Union students politics will continue.

I do not really see any prospect of diminished political activities. I do not hope the VC will be watching all over the Campus. So, stop Students Union elections and activities.

Agree. Students politics should be banned in Bangladesh forever. And they should take whatever steps needed.

It's the president who is the Chancellor. He needs to do some work to earn his Keep. So he is required to show up in the convocations for all the universities.

On the topic- I doubt the ban will stay in permanently. Over time monitoring will get lax and those goons will come crawling back in from the sewers. Unless an absolute ban on all sort of student politics is enforces across all the institutions, it will not solve the problem. And we all know that's never going to happen.

This is simply bandaid action to please the Western countries who have raised concerns because this went viral and the Western media caught hold of the news. BUET has many high profile alumnies globally who could put pressure through the Western media. Had this been a local college, no one would have even cared.
