Buckle Up India :Bullet train between Delhi-Chennai planned

Sri Lankans are whining about "environmental destruction" at every single express way, port, factory etc. Beside that those who lose property also get good compensation. Just recently, a poor part of Colombo was razed down and the people got high rise apartments as compensation.
The voice of society is sometimes hijacked by environmentalists and lobbyists, which can never represent the interests of the majority. Most demonstration here is triggered by people's discontent about the amount of compensation. Now in Wuhan, an old 100 m2 apartment inside of the inner ring requires at least 2-3 million yuan as compensation, and some people are still fighting for more.

@Azizam Sometimes I am getting confused, public benefits vs individuals, which is more important?

That's true. Funny part is some of those environmentalists are foreigners from developed countries who enjoy high standards of living but they want to keep people in developing countries backward but in the end of the day, it's up to the the locals to decide their priorities.

Just cuz I dont like racism I have false flags?
It's okay to condemn racism but you should be neutral in that regard.I wouldn't have said anything if you had reported the chinese poster also for making a racist comment against us but you chose to report the Indian poster. This only shows that you're extremely selective in the matter of racism:coffee:!!

They want expressways and shopping centres in their own countries and make developing countries their primitive Shangri-La, their spiritual paradise.

I think for a country to be developed, a generation or two have to sacrifice something so that the future generations will not have to face with the difficulties that their older generations faced. I thought this is something common in East Asian cultures. When I read how East Asian countries and Singapore developed, I often read stories of great sacrifices. In Japan, I've read about how some people had to do work at night for 6 months without a break in the shipbuilding industry. It's because of their sacrifices that the people in those countries today enjoy a comfortable life. I am sure China has its own share of such people.

@AndrewJin was Deng Xiaoping a modest person in his personal life?

We are building five metro lines at the same time(already 3 lines in use) and our final goal is 20+ lines. We are also building rapid city expressways and flyovers everywhere in Wuhan, and of course new HSR stations(500 bullet trains per day already, no room for new lines in Wuhan).

10,000 construction sites in the same time(not exaggerating), bad AQI, annual mean PM10 is among the worst 100 cities in the world(90th-100th). But I won't complain like some netizens in Wuhan. One generation suffers, but more will enjoy 10-20 years later when most people use public transport.

Many developing countries can't afford green energy technologies. China's GDP per capita is already close 7000USD so the officials have already started to invest in clean energy technologies. Just recently there was a 5% drop in CO2 emissions. As you said, the future generations will reap the benefits of current generation's sacrifices.

These are some of the apartments that were given as compensation for people who were relocated. Given the standards of living they previously had, it's totally unacceptable to complain.

I don't know about his personal life, mostly what I know is what he suffered in cultural revolution, so did president Xi. Maybe I should read his biography.:-)

That's very impressive. China uncountably experience the world's most impressive infrastructure development in the history of mankind.

I don't have any pictures to show how it looked like before but it was awful. Now it's hardly recognisable.
