‘Brotherly’ countries turn down Pakistan’s request

OK let's simplify it.

1) Democracy is better than Authoritarianism. Do you agree or not?

If you agree, then why is China so far ahead of India, even though we had the same GDP in 1990?

Clearly, you actually need to implement the system well for it to work. I have no problem with democracy itself, just that it has been implemented badly in a lot of developing nations.

There are many reasons this is off-topic but i give u one example take the slums in Mumbai for example can we do what China did and put red marks on buildings etc we don't like and demolish them? no because in India they would vote you out. The biggest problem in India is not even that but corruption the money was given to make nice modern roads but instead it gets eaten up and the work done is of poor quality but that is not a problem with democracy but one of bad leadership.

.
But that is not a problem with democracy but one of bad leadership.

That is exactly what I am saying.

Democracy needs to be implemented well for it to perform well. Same with every other system.

I think that it has not been implemented well in Pakistan, and the people of Pakistan do not deserve leaders like Zardari. The Pakistani people deserve MUCH better.

But for that to change, they need to reform the system. They need to create a system that has better checks and balances, one that is more accountable... they need a system that puts the correct people in power.

It is not a problem of democracy, it's a problem of implementation.

In the end we only have ourselves to blame why did the masses vote for zardari or congress in India? most people can't even read and write how they will make a choice on was good for the country when they don't even have food or a bed to sleep on at night. Give me a good King like Yudhisthira anyday because our fat baba's have shown they more intrested in milking India dry.

. .
People may not read and write, but they know their priorities, they know what is good for them and what is bad.

That's the same excuse which was given by Iskander Mirza when he staged the first coup d'état in history of Pakistan, that we are implementing a constitution which needs high literacy rate in country of illiterates. Well you know how wrong he was.

If you believe that Democracy is better than Authoritarianism, then clearly the implementation of democracy in the developing world has not been good.

Ok let us have it like this! China's leaders are Good when compared with Indian leadership... You need to have a iron fist in tackling things which comes in the way of national development. a small example is Kudankulam Power project.... Still there is some problems going on.

China got good leaders who led the country more or less in the right path....Agreed, But what if a person with Idi Amin characteristics becomes the next leader of China?

Yes everyone loves to be under the rule of a Good Dictator than a elected evil and corrupt President/PM, The only fortunate thing is we can throw them away after 5 years.

.
our fat babas are NOWERE near to our magarmaches just look at it if it was working before then it should now also but no mr1000% needs alot of cash and he doesnt want to pay it before he goes whether for good or bad people have lost hope in democracy if imran khan fails then people will support complete army control they are already saying it but imran khan has cooled it down

.
People say India and Pakistan are poor countries but what you expect when all the money gets taken out the country into the banks of switzerland or london, who really knows how much is stashed there over the many years.

.
Just why do you suppose Pakistanis keep electing these corrupt feudals? It's an unspoken contract. Everybody gets a tax holiday and people can keep complaining about bad governance.

But the root cause is lack of accountability. If people had faith in the government's accountability, they would pay taxes.
Government cuts taxes from our accounts... My Money ...:cry:

You believe the army are less corrupt? which compared to zardari must be true but I heard that the military also have their hands in many pies in the Pakistan economy it is like they are in business also.

All systems can work well if they are implemented well.

And Democracy has the best track record. Out of the top five largest economies, four of them are democracies.

That's why we have checks and balances in our system.

Even if an insane person was to somehow be selected by the Politburo as the next leader of China, they would still need the approval of all the members of the Standing Committee, before making any big decisions.

That's why we don't crash and burn like the other authoritarian regimes, because our system has been implemented better than say, North Korea.

.
The problem is not the judiciary, but the parliament and executive. These branches are responsible for funding law enforcement, and they are 100% controlled by the feudals. This is why non-Pakistanis are baffled why the army (and Imran Khan) are so popular in Pakistan. It's because the civilian political field is a complete sham. The feudals play musical chars in the name of democracy, but nothing really changes.

That remains a problem for both of our countries. These jokers have soiled politics so much, so that the smart, intelligent people with good managerial skills do not want enter politics. We usually end up choosing either "lesser of the evils" or someone completely unfit to do the job.

Hopefully, things will turn to be somewhat better in the near future.

Democracy is the best system but it takes a long time to work. The western nations you are talking about took a long time to reach where they are today. For them the process of industrialisation started in 18th and 19th century whereas for india it started mainly sometime in the late 20th century . So India will take its time .

In the long term, yes.

For China specifically though, I think our current system is working well, i.e. Socialism with Chinese Characteristics.

As long as it continues to be reformed over time, then I think this system suits us well.

But I don't think this system would work well in any other country apart from China.

Why are you linking democracy to industrialization, Western nations were already well industrialized even around WWII. Interesting thing to note is that when a country defaults, its trade haults. But lets say if US decides to default today, would it be facing the same situation? a simple answer would be would a country decline to buy Boeign 737, or Hellfire Missiles or Superhornet or F-16s if US offers it? US can decline to buy from the rest of the world, but to a broader extent the reverse can not happen :)
