I think it was disproportionate, children with rocks can never measure up to the fully trained soldier with M4-A1. It wasnt much of the threat. They could have taken shelter in building or even in the bullet proof hummer. They could have just cuffed & detained them, why the hell would soldiers beat em till they lie in the pool of blood?

There is no doubt that the Brits went overboard ... However, the incidents happenned on THEIR side of the line. You HAVE TO BE THE AUTHORITY on your side of the line. In one incident, I was so pissed off of a kid taking shots at my AEV that I walked up past HIS side of the line , grabbed his fully loaded AK-47 off his hands and stuck my K-bar up under his chin.

There wasn't any blood ... but there was alot of urine.

No, although a Canadian company group defended the place before DUTCHBAT took over. As for the incident in question, I scared the p!ss and crap out of the kid before handing him over to the Muslim police (under the watchful eye of the UN police). I don't think he had clean underwear for a month.

In every war in history the losers get occupied, and any trouble from them gets severely dealt with by the occupying force. In this PC (politically correct) world of today, the winners spend an absolute fortune on trying to restore the defeated country's infrastructure AND as the population in this case seems hell bent in indulging in utterly pointless mayhem the troops again risk life and limb in trying to keep the various factions apart - the classic definition of a thankless task. Saddam Hussain had to be a hard man to keep his country intact and functioning, but did he have to be a tyrant? Apparently more people were dying under his command than anything since, which is sobering to say the least. This is not to say that I approve of heavy handed treatment, but the event (and undoubtably others that were not filmed) ought to placed in context. To claim that it was 'racial' is total bilge. If someone is stoning YOU, you will react whatever colour or creed was doing the stoning, be they black, white, brown, yellow or purple.
