This thread is dedicated to the second largest ethnic minority in UK that now numbers 1.1 million which is 1.8% of the population of Britain.. It began arriving to UK in large numbers in 1950s and the pace really picked up in 1960s. Now we have fourth generation British Pakistani's in UK.

The community has gone through difficult times. These days it is often the choice pick for targetting for all sort accusations. Rise of Islamaphobia has increased friction and the general trend in the community toward becoming more religious has only made things worse. However despite everything the community has contributed to UK in manu ways. I want this thread to highlight the positives. Just to clarify by British Pakistani I mean any person of full or partial heritage that has direct or indirect roots to what is today called Pakistan.
Politics? I begin with Sadiq Khan MP Shadow Secretary of State for Justice. He is candidate for leadership of one of the world's greatest cities London - for the post of Mayor

Sports? Moving from politics we have Amir Khan the boxing champion who won the Silver Medal in 2004 Olympics at the age of 17 and then went from strength to strength.

Music? Well we have Zayn Malik from One Direction fame to solo glory. He has gone global since his debut with X factor

Politics? Mayor of London? Well how about Prime Minister of UK? Sajid Javid MP Secretary of State for Business in Prime Minister Cameron's cabinet is regulary mentioned as one possible future Tory candidate for UK Prime Minister.

Sacrifice? Well Pakistani born British Army Lance Corporal Jabron Hashmi gave his life for his adopted country in Afghanistan in 2006.
