In this 1948 file photo, test pilot Charles "Chuck" Yeager, 25, poses for a picture in a jet's cockpit. Yeager was first to fly faster than the speed of sound. Another Yeager feat, flying a jet under a Charleston, W.Va., bridge in 1948, was not reported by the local media. Yeager died Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at age 97.

Retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Charles “Chuck” Yeager, the World War II fighter pilot ace and quintessential test pilot who showed he had the “right stuff” when in 1947 he became the first person to fly faster than sound, has died. He was 97.

RIP.

Chuck Yeager is remembered for being the first man to break the sound barrier by going into a highly risky roketplane. Not for hisoffhand comments on PAF after his plane was bombed off....something that endlessly irritated the American Ambassador to Pakistan at the time who called him a cranky for them.

He's remembered for a lot of things. You failed to mention him being a fighter ace in a era with a high mortality rate.

They couldn't parachute into enemy territory and expect chai and to be released...

They got a bullet to their head and a unmarked grave. And with all his experience and skills gained during WWII, he then broke the sound barrier and also flew over mach 2. Two different distinctions.

And he's said this which probably irks you the most:

Still, the old fart has died and I'll celebrate like I celebrated when that Mig Bison of yours got shot down or when your recent Mig pilot became shark food. :D

I know the body is still in the sea since the sea isn't as forgiving as land dwellers.

'one guy against 20'

It was a fair fight. Your numbers don't make sense...

It was a much fairer fight than 71'. I don't want to see you complain...why were your other pilots scared to fly into the sky?

You expect to stage a false flag on enemy territory and not be ready for the response??

Are you Armenia now? :D

Just curious, but what do you have against Chuck Yeager? He was simply a guy sent to do his job, the PAF was forever grateful for his assistance, and he only ever spoke highly of the PAF, its pilots, and the country as a whole. Him and his wife spent some time travelling around the country, and they only ever had the highest esteem for the country and its people.

Why would you celebrate his death like that of an indian pilot? Or the death of any service personnel, whichever country they may be from?

I have nothing against him. I have the right to do so given to me by the US Constitution.

This ain't China afterall. I don't need to worship Yeager like the Chinese worship Mao or the Pakistani who worship Yeager. :D

Did you read all the RIP's in this thread?? That was fun to read.

Ain't no rest for the Wicked....or for those in Hell.

Yeager's favorite song:

Sung by the Kentucky homeboys. Not far from West Virginia where he was born.

So saying "RIP" out of respect for someone is akin to "worshipping" him? Interesting. Using that logic, would saying "PBUH" also be a form of "worship"? Are you saying he's in hell because Yeager wasn't a "muslim"?

No, to all. The song explained very well my answer to your statement that "he was just a pilot doing his job".

"Oh, there ain't no rest for the wicked
Money don't grow on trees
I got bills to pay, I got mouths to feed
Ain't nothing in this world for free"

I have no time for your silly little arguments. You coming all the way to this thread to defend him against words from a meaningless online persona is the same type of mindset which I spoke against.

And looks like something burned somewhere...

Not really, I wasn't one of the "ghairat mand Pakistanis saying RIP's" ... by the way, apostrophe 's' is the possessive term, not plural. I was just calling out your madrasa educated hypocrisy, that's all. And yes, you're correct, you can return to your meaningless online persona.
