Breathing poison in the world's most polluted city

doesn't matter where tourists go or not go.....

Islamabad is a much much much much much cleaner city than Delhi could ever be...Sorry but this is a fact.

When it comes to the environment, Pakistan has one of the cleanest airs around the world.
Go to deep forest, it will be much much cleaner than Islamabad.....

Going thru the article and pictures within, it reminded me of the articles they used to write about China few years back. Looks like after the green peace ban we see them focusing on this. They did the same thing with China, now its our turn. But soon this too shall pass and they will find another issue.

Please note the similarity in reporting style. I am not comparing China with India but I am comparing the reporting styles.

Also please note that Delhi is foggy in the winters, now in summer its not like the photos. I am sure China is also like that. But these photos potrays it like all around the year you cant see the tip of your nose in India or China due to pollution.

This is a phase all developing economies goes through. Even the west was a massive polluter during their industrial revolution.

Just because west had issues there is no reason for us to follow the suit...Delhi is getting polluted as we speak and it is a given fact...there are certain actions being taken in this regard and it will certainly help....

Karachi is right behind Delhi as second most polluted city of the world and alsohas one of the largest slums of the world

Please there is no reason to compare with Karachi. India is a quickly industrializing country. We need to find other solutions to solve the problem of pollution.

Any idea about the air quality index that was suppose to come online?

.
Not really, the Rhine region in Germany would beat Delhi hands down in terms of industry and value.

More to do with shyt pollution control laws and above all the brick kilns that generate the massive amounts of large particulate smoke.
Its not the Pollution control laws per se. By law, all public transport in Delhi runs on CNG.
Brick kilns are responsible, as are personal transport vehicles.

Here is the present air quality index:

Aha!

According to the report by World Health Organization (WHO), In 2010, some 223,000 people around the world died from lung cancer caused by exposure to air pollution. And more than half of those deaths are believed to have been in China and elsewhere in East Asia. WHO released a list of world’s 10 most polluted cities. The list includes four Iranian cities, three Pakistani, two Indian and one city of Mongolia and Botswana.

You Ignore the fact that Islamabad & Delhi are not comparable.
Islamabad is a new planned city mostly resides by elites , politicians & bureaucrats with very less population with no industry or heavy traffic or huge population.
Btw , how do you control poor people from coming to Islamabad
Other side Delhi is one of the oldest city in the world with heavy population ( & more coming from another states regularly)
very large no. of vehicles, Industries, educational institutions, all political , Judicial, military, bureaucracy centre are here.
Every one lives in delhi, politicians, bureaucrats, elites, middle class or poor.
Delhi for everyone but it can't be said about Islamabad.
Our Chandigarh or Lawasa or more comparable to Islamabad.

okay, compare lahore to delhi....I think lahore wins.

There is no restriction on poor people coming into islamabad. Islamabad has poor people too. It is like any other city of pakistan, except supposedly cleaner. There is if I remember correctly a ban on rickshaws/wagons etc in Islamabad.
