Once cruise missiles can be spotted (sunlight), they can be downed with MANPADs. They travel slow enough, you can hear, aim and see the cruise missile pass and fire.

At night, you need an advanced MANPAD with radar.

I would line the coast with cruise missile spotters with MANPADs for daytime protection.

And R&D radar guided MANPADs for night coastal patrol.

IF the US is the Roman empire of today. then nobody humiliated them like Iran back then.

if trump is man enough to physically enter Iranian territory like these Roman emperors. him and his army will suffer the exact same fate as Valerian , Julian , or spartacus' murderer Crassus

There has always been a Rome thought-out history .. before Roman Empire there were other empires... After Rome there has always been a Rome.

Its a fact of human existence. It isnt about good guy or a bar guy. Its just reality.

Tine we all grew up and stopped believing in a utopian world.

Not sure how people missed it but the altitude here is very significant.

"At the time of the intercept, the RQ-4 was operating at high-altitude approximately 34 kilometers from the nearest point of land on the Iranian coast," he said.

That is an equivalence of 111548.556 feet altitude. If Iranian air defense systems, especially locally produced ones, can reach that high, then Iran has game-changing air defense systems in its disposal. This definitely makes any attacks on Iranian inland assets very difficult to achieve.
The US says it was done with the S-300..

I think they might try to shoot an Iranian drone down in Syria and call it even.

or go with the Zionist tactic bomb some empty warehouse in Syria, claim they decapitated 10 top IRGC generals and scared 30 other wounded IRGC generals into running back into Iran... America fukc yea!!

this episode really proved how hollow American bluffs are.
what if mainland iran get attacked?

why send in us forces to fight a war against iran.....

we will send carrier groups into the strait...thats about it....

can use pakistan to spilt iranian forces.....
pakistan does not even have to fight...just move a chunk of its forces into balochistan...WHICH pakistan would love to do...considering the chinese need security there....and supress the movements there...

and it helps india focus more on china...

WIn WIn for the US

another point of entry can be from Iraq

Oh, another Rajesh or Rakesh from the Call center, Jeez i hate these guys .

you dont understand the intricacies of geopolitics , dear " ahmed" ...lol

what if mainland iran get attacked?

Iran does not have the " navy" to counter US carrier groups in the strait.....but will use rockets to target them...

us does not and WILL not send in ground forces into Iran...

the geography suits iran and it would be a dumb idea to invade from the sea....

Iraq can be a good point of entry...since its more flat.

my question is what if iranian mainland got attacked?

usa can shot down airliner like they did in past

which airliner ??? probably a uae or saudi....

my question is what if iranian mainland got attacked?

It will end up as a stalemate....iran is too mountainous an area...lot of casualties on the US side.
besides the logistics support would be too hard to achieve.....

unless saudi arabia...uae go all in
and USA uses the indian naval bases for logistic support....Considering the new treaty that was signed...

Usa also has air bases Above IRAN..that it can use for air raids.

probably an entry point from iraq fro ground forces...since the iranian oil fields are closer to the iraqi border....

Trump Approves Strikes Against Iran on Thursday but Abruptly Backtracks on His Decision - Report
Middle East
06:14 21.06.2019(updated 06:37 21.06.2019)

Tensions between the US and Iran have escalated following the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps downing of a US Global Hawk spy drone that Tehran claimed was in violation of Iran airspace, specifically in the coastal Hormozgan province. Donald Trump initially stated that Iran had made "a very big mistake", but later walked back his comment.

US President Donald Trump approved military operation against Iran after the downing of a US Global Hawk spy drone, but pulled back from launching it on Thursday night, The New York Times reported.

According to the report, military and diplomatic officials were expecting a strike order as late as 7 p.m. Thursday. Prior to that there were heated debates at the White House involving Trump's top national security officials and leaders from Congress.

The outlet added, citing a senior Trump administration official, that aircraft and ships had been on position to fire missiles when the order came to cancel the operation.

Donald Trump initially approved attacks against a series of Iranian targets, including radar and missile batteries, The New York Times reported citing multiple senior administration officials.
The operation, although underway, was abandoned in its early stages.

According to the report, it is not clear whether the attacks might still go forward.

The military operation was slated to take place before dawn Friday in Iran in order to "minimize risk to the Iranian military or to civilians," The New York Times reported.

Isn't the maximum ceiling of 3rd Khordad system 27km? CENTCOM claimed the drone was in 34km altitude from land.

Lol, so they still don't believe Iran's domestic capacity in producing its own AD? They have even shown the video of the 3rd Khordad system that shot it down!

If they're using their brains and not their Israeli-centered, one-eyed, messianic beliefs, the US war hawks should worry of an adversary - in this case Iran - that can take down aircrafts at 60,000 feet or higher.
