Breaking: Three Indian Soldiers killed on LOC

Casualties on both sides as Pakistan, India trade fire along LoC
July 21, 2017, 7:41 pm

The military on Friday said it had killed three Indian soldiers in retaliation to an earlier attack that killed a civilian and injured four others in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

ISPR said Indian troops had targeted civilian population in villages of Lipa sector along the Line of Control. “A civilian was martyred while four others sustained injuries,” it added.

In retaliation, it said, Pakistani troops killed three Indian soldiers and destroyed multiple posts.

The military’s media wing said the Indian attack was unprovoked, and violated a 2003 cease-fire agreement in the Himalayan region, which is split between Indian and Pakistani zones.

The two sides frequently trade fire across the heavily militarised Line of Control.

Three Indian soldiers killed as Pakistan Army retaliates on civilian's killing

At least three Indian soldiers were killed as Pakistan Army responded to a ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) on Friday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

“Indian army today targeted innocent civilians in Gheekot and Mandal villages of Lipa sector where civilians were preparing for Friday prayers,” the ISPR said in a statement. “One young boy martyred, four civilians injured.”

Army, the communique added, effectively responded, killing three Indian soldiers and injuring many. “Three Indian posts [were also] destroyed,” it said.

Despite LoC tension, Neelum Valley still open for tourists

Indian ceasefire violations (CFVs) continue despite facing loses of men and material inflicted by Pakistan Army’s response, the military’s media wing said.

The military expressed the resolve that it “stands by its innocent civil population and would continue to respond befittingly.”
