Breaking : PM Imran to show 'threat letter' to senior journalists, allies today

.
When the Army top Brass can fold under pressure from US, why can't they stand somehow with the support of China and Russia.

Fauj has a bigger stake in good relations wih China looking at all the JF-17, to J-10 c, the missiles to all that including CPEC. Why can't they neuteralize this US pressure with China's help and with Russia now.

This is really shameful and hopeless...
You wanna them to ditch their favorite retirement destinations, their family and businesses facing grave consequences there as the case with the Russian Oligarchs nowadays 😳. All that fuss for some random cricketer who happens to be our PM! Nah! It's never gonna happen.

What possibly China or Russia could offer! Russians have some cute chicks but nothing else that's it. Who would try to learn their cumbersome languages in later part of their lives? But can simply fit into the western culture as it was their destiny for life.

ISLAMABAD: The government confirmed on Wednesday that its allegation about a foreign conspiracy against the prime minister was based on a diplomatic cable received from one of the country’s missions abroad.
At a rally in Islamabad on Sunday, Prime Minister Imran Khan claimed that the opposition’s no-confidence motion against him was a result of a “foreign conspiracy” because of his external policy and funds were being channelled from abroad to oust him from power.
Though he did not initially provide specific details about the threatening letter, he subsequently opened up a bit because of critics doubting his claim. The government initially offered to share the letter with the chief justice of Pakistan, but later the prime minister also briefed his cabinet members about the contents of the letter.

In view of the legal bar on disclosing classified documents, a group of journalists were then provided with minutes of the cabinet meeting at their interaction with the prime minister.
State Department says no US government agency or official sent letter to Pakistan
No foreign government was named in that meeting, but the media persons were informed that a Pakistani envoy was told by a senior official of the host country that they had issues with Prime Minister Khan’s foreign policy, especially his visit to Russia and the stance on the ongoing Ukrainian war.
The Pakistani envoy was further conveyed that the future trajectory of relations between the two countries was contingent upon the fate of the no-confidence motion that the opposition parties were then planning to bring against the prime minister. The envoy was warned of serious implications if Prime Minister Khan survived the no-trust vote.
The cable was reportedly sent on March 7, a day before the opposition submitted the no-confidence motion and requisitioned a National Assembly session for voting on it.
Meanwhile, it has separately emerged that the cable was sent by Pakistan’s then ambassador to United States Asad Majeed on the basis of his meeting with Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu.
Ambassador Majeed has now moved to Brussels for taking up his new assignment and has been replaced by Ambassador Masood Khan.
Contradictory claims have emerged from Islamabad and Washington about the meeting between Ambassador Majeed and Lu after PM Khan’s claim.
A senior Pakistani official told Dawn the language used in the meeting by the American side was unusually harsh.
Meanwhile, Americans deny in private discussions that any specific message was delivered to the Pakistani envoy.
It is a well-known fact that the administration of US President Joe Biden was uneasy with Mr Khan’s trip to Moscow that coincided with the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
US State Department had publicly voiced those concerns and both sides acknowledge that there had also been a communication between them ahead of Mr Khan’s Moscow trip in which an attempt was made to dissuade him from undertaking the visit.
Later on March 1, Islamabad-based Western diplomats had also issued a statement, urging the Pakistani government to condemn the Russian attack on Ukraine and support a resolution in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) calling on Moscow to stop the war.
Pakistan went on to abstain in the UNGA vote and demanded that the conflict be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
The other issue the Americans reportedly had was with Mr Khan’s foreign policy.
A couple of Pakistan’s former envoys to the United States told Dawn American officials usually did not brandish threats during official meetings though their tone would vary from situation to situation.
Besides, countries routinely keep expressing displeasure or concern over others’ actions in bilateral engagements.
They said that even if threats were made in extreme situations, that was done in a subtle manner and, more importantly, a plausible deniability is maintained. “They will certainly not do so in the presence of note takers,” one of them quipped.
The two former ambassadors further observed that under PM Khan, the fundamentals of foreign policy had not changed except that he was more vocal. Therefore, it was difficult to understand why they would have an issue with his policy now, they maintained, adding that Islamabad had not threatened US interests either.
Interestingly, there were no signs of a rupture or new tensions in ties until Mr Khan went public with the threat.
Islamabad hosted Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya for the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers meeting held last week.
After a meeting with Ms Zeya, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi tweeted: “Bilaterally, Pakistan has a longstanding relationship with the US and we believe a regular and structured dialogue process [was important] to promoting our bilateral and shared regional objectives. We look forward to commemorating Pak-US 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties this year.”

Even Ambassador Majeed thanked Mr Lu on Twitter for participation in an embassy event on March 16.

US diplomats in Islamabad were not demarched even after the disclosure.

A Western diplomat thinks that it has happened because someone had to be scapegoated for the current political crisis and there could have been no better option than the United States.

ANWAR IQBAL ADDS: Meanwhile, the US State Department said on Wednesday that no US government agency or official had sent a letter to Pakistan on the current political situation in the country.

Responding to questions from Dawn about the alleged letter and US involvement in the no-confidence motion against the PTI government, a State Department spokesperson said: “There is no truth to these allegations."

According to some diplomatic sources in Washington, the letter could be a diplomatic cable from Washington, drafted by a senior Pakistani diplomat. “The contents of the letter, apparently, are based on informal discussions between Pakistani and other officials,” one diplomatic source said.

“The contents, if correct, show a set of friendly officials from various countries indulging in some loud-thinking and probing. Nothing more,” the source added.

The sources said that such conversations often happened in capital cities around the world and diplomats often shared the contents of such conversations with authorities in their home countries.

“The purpose behind such cables is to keep your government informed. It’s no sign of a conspiracy against a government or a personality,” another diplomatic source said.

So despite having the letter since 7th March, you keep giving positive comments in public in favor of the alleged country and invite their representative in OIC summit too, but when you are cornered, Uncle Sam becomes Aunt Sally?

Did our foreign office issued any de'marche to US Charge de Affairs/Ambassador etc?

Sorry to say but IK is just playing politics over it. At least his actions speak such.

Lies - this was an official meeting - sorry

.
No offence just interesting:
Why you post such stuff ? have it circled already in other rounds ? What’s your intuition to post this and what’s your stance on it ?

Heil Pakistan Army !
It's fake letter come on. Even if someone claims to see and read the exact transcript or claims that has been told which country's which official's statements it carries is a straight out liar. Only a select few persons have access to this document in Pakistan. A couple of highest ranking military officials and couple of civilian officials apart from IK. All other people are briefed vaguely about only some of it's content including the cabinet members

.
Reason is the establishment wants a perpetual revolving door of civilian PMs, which ensures their continued hold on power and no one civilian individual with longevity to bring about a real change to threaten the status quo in which establishment is sitting pretty.
Ahsir Azeem an ex civil servant/Bureaucrat trained in the military as well, said in his recent video that any new PM/Govt should do a couple of things within 10 days of taking the charge in Office. Replace military DG ISI by a civilian DG of ISI, Establish US Secret Service style force, ban and kick out 111 brigade from the Islamabad and pass relevant legislations ASAP. It must be done in 1st ten days of the Govt.

This way either military would stage a coup and would have to kick the elected PM out in first days of his Govt when his popularity would be immense and carrying no baggage of lack of performance, incompetence, corruption, inflation etc etc. Either military would have to take over the control which would be enormously notorious step to take at that moment or would have to commit suicide in it's power struggle by surrendering it's powers of political engineering and Capital's security control forever.

But if the newly elected Govt even took 6 months to carry out these steps then by that time there would always been some convenient excuse to throw out the elected Govt in the name of the "national interest".

*I would personally add a legislation here that an Army chief would never be able to get any kind of extension whatsoever. So that way their lust for power can be suppressed too.

That's the 1st step towards stable civilian supremacy and no more bullying by the military establishment. Even if the motu gang does it, I would be with him in this matter.

.

Just remember those of you opposed to IK are with this smiling snake. Honestly don’t understand anyone who’s certain in this position. ON IK side is pretty much most of the ex servicemen while the other side has the establishment. TBH this is first time in my life I feel on the other side of the “establishment.” Even if it was the chor NS in power and foreign gov was pushing him out I feel like I would stand with him.

.
There are several things to be discussed here:
1) This foreign hand. Many people believe it to be of USA. Pakistan must never ever give any bases to USA. IK did that and USA was not happy. But Pakistan should also not try to get in some bloc i.e. Russian bloc. Many Pakistani trade is with west. We are culturally more close to west so to bash west at all times is not diplomatic.
2) Say whatever you may but IK tenure was better. Yes we got "mehngai" but the bitter truth is Pakistan needs to go through this tough phase of price hike. It is mathematically proven that when dollar price is raised in longet terms the exports of the country increase.
3)This whole fiasco has made opposition less popular among masses imo now. I know people who were supporting PML-N now saying they dont support anyone now. This mixture govt that is going to be made is gonna ruin economy and the blame will come on PML-N.
P.S If PDM decides to make Fazl as president of my beloved Pakistan I think that would be one of the darkest day in history of Pakistan.
If everything goes as planned then Zardari would be the President. He loves that sweet immunity of that seat! Just sit back and relax there 🥱

Re: Letter/Threat to Khan Administration (Islamabad).

1. Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the U.S. was told several times verbally and at least once in written form, by Biden Admin officials and the U.S. State Department, that they were quite concerned about deteriorating bilateral relations between the United States and Pakistan, especially with regard to key foreign policy moved by the Khan Administration. On at least one occasion, these American officials warned the ambassador that relations had deteriorated to such an extent that “it cannot be repaired under the current government in Islamabad.” The officials further warned of consequences that Pakistan may face if it does not toe the American line on these issues and fall in line. Which explains the increasing number of meetings between U.S. diplomats and opposition leaders in Pakistan. These warnings took place in late February to early March, possibly ignited by Khan’s visit to Moscow on the eve of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as well as the following agreements to buy Russian natural gas and wheat at prices favourable to Pakistan.
2. The Ambassador communicated these discussions to the Foreign Minister of Pakistan through secure and encrypted channels in the form of a letter, and the Foreign Minister forwarded this ‘top secret’ letter to the Prime Minister.
3. The Ambassador was summoned back to Islamabad and a new ambassador was sent in his stead.
4. The Prime Minister viewed this, and rightly so, as a direct and explicit threat to the Government of Pakistan from a foreign government on issues of sovereignty and sovereign decision. The Prime Minister apprised the People of Pakistan of this hostile foreign pressure on sovereign Pakistani foreign policy decisions.
5. In short, the Biden Administration threatened the Khan Administration with further deteriorated U.S.-Pakistan relations and economic pressure if it did not reverse sovereign decisions made in the interest of Pakistan.
6. The situation and the Ambassador’s letter was also shared with the Pakistani military leadership, which in spite of chilled bilateral relations, still shares a not-widely-publicised but very cordial and “accommodating” military relationship with the U.S.
7. The Prime Minister is ready to produce said letter which may or may not include the written U.S. state department warnings, in front of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
8. The issue is not just of Russia/Ukraine and Afghanistan, but also of Kashmir, India, Israel, Iran & others.

Copied as received ….
That's as much close to the official stance of GoP as it can get. 👍

U think its possible for us to do the same?
Nope. Election Commission, courts, state machinery, bureaucracy everything is managed and controlled here. We don't need that half a$$ bull$h!t democracy, we need a revolution to kick each of their butts and straight to the guillotines. Nothing less than that can rescue Pakistan from this napak never ending plague.

No just make a phone call as usual! That's it, that's what they do the best. 😜😂🤣🤣😂🤫🙈🙉🙊
