And you can bet she would
. There is silly negativity in Pakistan around the US. The reality is, you guys aren't understanding on how to deal with the US. Primarily reason is because you have generals trying to deal with a hard core Civilian democratic system (and this is not against the Pak Military, I am just stating the fact).
So to work with the US, you need a Civilian government. At the end of the day, you have to see your priorities, the priorities should be, to get Pakistan to grow, strengthen her defense and raise her status globally. For that, both Civil and Military have to work together and complement each other on what each is good at. There is a lot of growth and potential for Pakistan that's being wasted due to this drama of Army and Civil. So the current partnership should continue and Civilians should be allowed to do more for the country. When everyone meets their goals, and a system is running, there will be less tensions. And the goals I clearly defined above.
Having a Civil face would help with the US no matter how you see it. Remember, the US has been trying to defuse situation between India and Pakistan for the past many decades. Make her your friend (even if they are strategically aligned with India). The US works with democracies very well and they don't like Generals showing up for meetings. They'll deal with it for the time being (Mushy and Zia an example). Also remember, Pakistan is a nuke power and can't be ignored. You just need to focus on speaking others language so you can connect better. The Pakistani government is looking for lobbyists (finally). Something that was ended in Mushy's time after the 99 coupe. And look at the damage that has happened between the US and Pakistani relationships. This lobby thing, is a good step towards a better mutual relationship.
Especially, with a growing economy, the message is heard and taken much seriously and much nicely due to business benefits. All of you military fans need to learn some diplomacy......in today's world, Business and Economy is everything (foreign policy, defense, relationships, etc, etc). And you have the right team for that as of now. Let them continue to deliver while the Army takes care of the defense side. Just the way it should be.
