Law enforcers have started a fresh drive at a “Neo JMB” hideout in Chittagong's Sitakunda upazila since the morning.

-Fresh drive begins around 6:00am

-Sounds of gunfire, grenade explosion heard

-A SWAT member hurt

Police with the help of members of Special Weapon and Tactic Team from Dhaka and Chittagong carried out the operation at a two-storey building in Premtala area around 6:00 am, police said.

Several sounds of gunfire and explosion were heard from the nearby areas around 6:30 am.

A member of SWAT sustained injuries during the gunfight. Law enforcers were seen taking him with his blood-stained dress around 6:40 am, reports our local correspondent from the spot.

Whats the problem , its becoming pretty normal now a days?
When US issued warning about terrorists in BD some time back , I thought it was just their exhibition of self exalted paranoia on third world country.

1. All these terrorists popping up is a bad thing
2. The authorities taking a zero tolerance approach and hunting them down all across the country.

Islamists are making their presence felt all across the world...no reason to think Bangladesh is immune to this evil.

Not to mention - as can be seen in this subforum, there is a section of the population that agrees with the ideology of these islamists

Can we get name of those people. As per my understanding there should be distinction between Islamists and Militants/terrorists whatever. No one should agree with the terrorists. Ironically you are the only one fall into the category of openly advocating and spreading terrorist ideology which is to kill all Muslims of Bangladesh along with saffron terrorists from India.

Unlike other parts of the world which have gun culture, ppl on this side of world indulge in rioting or threatening is normal. It is considered more or less of a pressure valve to release pent up frustration every now & then.

Seems it is gone further down and ppl have taken recourse to guns. This reflects some drastic change in society. Even though govt can put it down in heavy handed manner, blood shed will leave lasting impression on society. More ever it comes at a time when BD is witnessing a good economic growth. Any disturbance at this time will simply push them back economically and start a chain reaction. If you see most of the ME countries or afghanistan for instance were better countries until they just got stuck in quick sand.
It is a very delicate situation. Govt cannot use too much force which might impact innocents leading to more ppl taking arms nor can govt can sit quiet and watch when innocents are killed.

ISPR just held a press briefing...2 of the terrorists inside the Sylhet apartment complex have been shot dead...1 or more are still alive.

Authorities have taken the slow and cautious approach because the terrorists have rigged the place with multiple IEDs. And with the general public no longer in danger...plus there being no escape route for the terrorists...they're willing to play the waiting game.
