Breaking News: Peace agreement between Government of India and NSCN.

Also important to have a context. Isak Swu & Thuingaleng Muivah are getting on in age and time was of the essence for both sides. Isak Swu, in particular, has not been in good health. He is presently being treated in Delhi at the Fortis Hospital where he has been since early last month.

Nobody can trust those various Tribal groups. Hell.... they don't even trust each other. :D

But neutralising them will be a progressive and phased process. There are no quick fixes. Not even this one; though it is a big one.

That process is already on..... they hate each others guts..... and powers.

We should help this faction against the other one by supplying them with Intel :enjoy:

Not sure if any breakthrough will be made but this is a positive sign.

Hopefully sri sri will convince him of giving up arms & joining the mainstream

Indian government has had a ceasefire agreement with Myanmarese Naga rebel leader S S Khaplang since 2001 which was broken very recently in early 2015.

In 2001 when the ceasefire was concluded the NSCN (K) had agreed not to assist any North-Eastern insurgent groups to set up base camps in Myanmar, but on-ground research reveals that in NSCN (K)-dominated areas of Myanmar such as Lahe, Leshi and Nanyun in Sagaing administrative region, the United Liberation Front of Asom-Paresh Barua faction and the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB (Songbijit faction)) set up camps to carry out attacks in Assam.

In fact, a study of the ceasefire from 2001 shows that there has been no let-up in NSCN (K)’s militant activities and active support to insurgent groups from India.

North-Eastern insurgent groups also have access to training and regrouping camps in Myanmar’s Naga Self-Administered Zone, where NSCN (K) has been granted autonomy by the Myanmar government. NSCN (K) cadres are allowed to remain fully armed in the three townships in the Zone, which is geographically contiguous to Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.

There were massacres in the aftermath of the Shillong Accord in 1975 and when the NSCN was divided in 1988.

If the government is serious about bringing lasting peace in the North-East, the first step is to hold ceasefire signatory groups accountable to ceasefire ground rules.

It is better to be prepared and deter violence than be caught unawares and react.

I don't trust these bloody insurgents - they never follow the ceasefire agreements.
wat about the mizo accord ? turned out to be very successful imo

Thank you Chacha Nehru... may we never follow in your footsteps.

Yes it was - Before the signing of the accord the Mizo National Front was a secessionist movement but afterwards Mizoram was granted statehood in 1987 as per the accord and now the same insurgent group is a regional political party in Mizoram - In 1998 and 2003 MNF won the state assembly elections, and Pu Zoramthanga (a former insurgent himself) was chief minister for 10 years.

bhaya hamaray matters ap boltay hain wo bhi betuka hum nay to patay ki baat ki ha phir bhi
The equivalent in Pakistan is a peace treaty with BLA. When that happens I am sure a lot of Indians will shut their mouths in awe. But looks like Pakistan is doing a superb job cutting off the possibility.

This deal is no way similar to TTP deal. Which meant surrender of Bajaur. None of these Indian militant groups had overt control of populated areas. That was not the case in Pakistan. There are plenty of other differences, one that I love is that the North East groups are progressive and amenable to logic.

So it looks like even you knew the differences but made a half-hearted attempt at trolling.:haha:

:) first of all Bajaur was never surrendered rather it was cleaned of terrorists and TTP was pushed out.

and I was not talking TTP :)

as far as BLA is concerned that is a terrorist group and we are in no way interested in any ind of peace accord with them as it would mean we surrendered to their terror and treason.

thirdly it was no trolling i meant it

Excellent Work...
Now Ajit Doval should work on making this NSCN weak slowly.

You know how long it took for Ajit Doval to sabotage the Mizo insurgency? 5 years- and finished. The will and ability of the people involved makes all the difference. I'm not sure that your guys have either. It's been endlessly going on.

History says Bajaur was first surrendered through a 'peace' accord and then recovered at a huge cost after depopulation of civilians. Surely that is a strategy that should be taught in war colleges.

The logical conclusion of Baluch conflict, if it should end the insurgency, is an apology from Pakistan and a peace treaty with BLA.

And way to with no negotiations with terrorists facade. Which kind of terrorists are you talking about? The good, bad or green?

Press Briefing going on.

Here are the highlights:
  • My warm greetings to all those present here on this historic day.
  • I wish Issac Swu a speedy recovery. Just as his contribution to this agreement has been huge, his guidance will remain crucial.
  • The Naga political issue had lingered for six decades, taking a huge toll on generations of our people.
  • I compliment the NSCN for maintaining the ceasefire agreement for nearly 2 decades with a sense of honour.
  • Nagas represent highest level of humanism, system of village administration and grass-root democracy should be a source of inspiration to the rest of the country.
  • I have the deepest admiration for the great Naga people for their extraordinary support to the peace efforts.
  • My relationship with the North East has been deep. I have travelled to Nagaland on many occasions.
  • I have been deeply impressed by the rich and diverse culture and the unique way of life of the Naga people.
  • The Naga courage and commitment are legendary. Equally, they represent the highest levels of humanism.
  • Unfortunately the Naga problem has taken so long to resolve, because we did not understand each other, it's a legacy of British rule.
  • Since becoming Prime Minister, peace, security & economic transformation of North East has been amongst my highest priorities.
  • Today's agreement is a shining example of what we can achieve when we deal with each other in a spirit of equality, when we leave the path of dispute and take the high road of discussion.
  • Want to specially thank my colleague, Home Minister Rajnath Singh whose support and advice was invaluable.
  • Today, to the people of Nagaland, I want to say that your talents, tradition and efforts will make the nation stronger.
  • I join the nation in saluting you and conveying our good wishes to the Naga people.

NSCN following Pakistan footsteps. You surrendered in front of us in 71 and they are following you now :)

bwahhahahahahahaha you bharotis seem to be born rondoos. instead of focusing on your peace accord with your insurgents you are still lost in your state terrorism against Pakistan in 71.

anyway did NSCN surrender or you bowed to their demands ?

what are clauses of this deal ?
