They have called for creation of a sharia state, which inturn means dismantling the entire state. Its more than just seperatism, its a coup.

You may not see the difference but asking for Islamic law has been an ongoing issue (no less than Nawaz Sharif as the PM had introduced the laws to implement sharia) so the issue is not of ethnic division, rather a political issue. Them asking about Islamic Law is not even the issue here. They have illegally occupied a land and know that govt wants to avoid a showdown with them. They are using that to their advantage. Tactically there may be similarities.
