Breaking News : India commits huge investment in Chabahar

No on Akash 2 only upgrades was the propulsion system, and better propellant, which increases its rande, but Akash still remains a Passive Guided SAM. What should be done is to upgrade, its passive seeker to Active seaker or IR seaker, making it true fire and forget SAM. Another problem is that it is not canitarized, which is what the newest SAM are, which will lower down its maintainance cost, and more shell life.

you may be right, but i remember reading the interview of the person in charge of Akash project. He specifically mentioned of putting a seeker on missile, this while changes the whole dynamics of the missile is one of the reasons why AKash 2 is taking so much time.

it still will take some time and its good for pakistan in the long run

even if they forget about india and iran and wht they tend to benefit from it

as for those who think india will be nailed by so called jewish and yamrican lobby they need to understand USA already has made a deal with iran and more than india or iran USA needs this link to central asia and afghanistan

rest you can speculate yourself

in short chabahr link is a blessing in disguise for Pakistan nation

Carry on if you wish
Allow me the privilege of deciding when to carry on and when to finish. However back to topic I have said consistently that the biggest hurdle to Chah Bahar is not Pakistan. It is the Indian friendship with Israel and US that is going to possibly abort this project in it's infancy.

Well here we have the rumblings in Washington before the ink has even dried in Tehran. Quote -

U.S. lawmakers question India plans for Chabahar port
WASHINGTON | By Patricia Zengerle

"U.S. senators questioned on Tuesday whether India's development of a port in southern Iran for trade access risked violating international sanctions, and a State Department official assured them the administration would closely examine the project.

"We have been very clear with the Indians (about) continuing restrictions on activities with respect to Iran," Nisha Desai Biswal, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, said on Tuesday.

"We have to examine the details of the Chabahar announcement to see where it falls in that place," she testified to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday pledged up to $500 million to develop the Iranian port of Chabahar, to try to give his country trade access to Iran, Afghanistan and Central Asia. The route is currently all but blocked by Pakistan, long at odds politically with India.

The United States and Europe lifted sanctions in January under a deal with Iran to limit its nuclear program but some restrictions to trade remain, tied to issues such as human rights and terrorism.

Biswal said she believed India's relationship with Iran was primarily focused on economic and energy issues, and said the administration recognized India's need for a trade route.

"From the Indian perspective, Iran represents for India a gateway into Afghanistan and Central Asia," she said. "It needs access that it doesn't have."

Biswal said she had not seen any sign of Indian engagement with Iran in areas, such as military cooperation, that might be of concern to the United States.

Modi is due to visit the United States next month and will address a joint meeting of Congress, a rare honor.

Senator Ben Cardin, the committee's top Democrat, asked if Biswal expected formal security cooperation agreements to be signed during that visit.

She noted that India and the United States have already strengthened their security cooperation in several areas. "We're looking at what additional areas we can engage in to deepen that cooperation," Biswal said.

Washington sees its relationship with India as critical, partly to counterbalance China's rising power. President Barack Obama has called it "one of the defining partnerships of the 21st century"

I suggested this would happen. I am actually surprised though with the speed at which this has happened. When Modi arrives in US next month expect Congress to apply pressure. Formal security cooperation agreements are to be signed which means US might apply pressure and India might accomodate US concerns by way of placing Chah Bahar back into the freezer where it has been since 2003. Interesting next few months. Watch this space when next month Modi makes visit to US.

You are living in the gaga make believe world of the Pakistani psyche. It is the job of senators to ask questions. In this case 2 senators asked the question of the state department. State Department said there appears nothing wrong with this deal but will look at the details.
Let them
Its their perogative
Its a democracy as we are, and not a state owned by the army with a modesty bodice of pretend democracy

THERE WILL BE NO PRESSURE
There will be detailed talks
As the state dept CLEARLY states, it understands India's need to trade with central asia and since Pakistan has refused access even after US "advice" it has no choice

NO COUNTRY is going to tell India who it trades with and who it does not. We were trading with Iran and buying their oil all through the sanctions We are not USA's chamberpot cleaners as the whole Pakistani nation has been for over 60 years
