One killed in blasts at Chennai Central station - The Hindu​

One woman has been killed and 9 injured in blasts that occurred at Chennai Central railway station. Police say the explosion was reported when the Guwahati Express pulled into platform no. 9 at the railway station. The victim Swati (22) was from Guntur.

Southern Railways General Manager Rakesh Misra said two low intensity blasts took place at 7.30 a.m. on Thursday in S4 and S5 coaches of the Guwahati Express. He added that the victim was sitting on the seat under which the bomb was kept.

Two people are reported critical and seven with minor injuries.

Surveillance will be increased in all trains and stations in Andhra Pradesh after these blasts, said South Central Railways General Manager P.K. Srivastava. The Railways has opened a helpline in Bangalore - 080 22876288, and one in Chennai - 044 25357398.
