It doesn't matter one bit. Russia has again demonstrated that it is winning. More territory added to the tally.

First, of course it matters. If it didn't, pro-Russians wouldn't be mentioning it.

Secondly, Russia is losing. They took Bakhmut (which the Ukrainians are disputing), congratulations, but they're gonna lose it soon enough. The Ukrainians are outflanking them.

Almost everything is true except the casualties. It's best to ignore everything from both sides. Ukrainian casualties are not as high as the Russians claim, and vice versa.
Losing 50k-70k is no joke and is probably the entire war, not this one battle. If we take an average estimate of 60k and the battle of Bakhmut was 298 days long , that's almost 200 soldiers killed per day.

Bakhmut was the most intense battle in the entire war by a long shot, 200 dead a day is very realistic. At the height of some of the offensives, you where getting 400 to 500 dead a day on both sides just in Bakhmut alone.

Even at the low end I've seen is 20k to 30k, which to me is way underreported.

Either way, Russia spent a majority of its efforts on Bakhmut, a city that serves no strategic purpose for Russia.

If NATO got directly involved, Russia would have seen a total collapse of its military by now.
