One could say the same about the people of Swat who voted in the murderous barbaric Taliban into power.

When did that happen? They were never afforded a choice, a free 24 hour operational radio channel fed them so much sh*t that they could not believe PA soldiers could recite Quran like a normal Muslim. One side thought some idea of Shariat will save their lives from unemployment and lack of justice, the other side thought a massive Hindutva ideology and jump start economics will save them from unemployment and constant communal tensions and appeasing.
Two sides of the same coin. The people chose what they thought would save them.. at least in terms of economy..the Modi government delivered; all the Mullah did was promote forced marriage to their mujahids and impose draconian laws.

However, it seems the Hindutva brigade is slowly coming home to roost; as the fractures within communal lines are beginning to grow. The hatred for Islam will grow more in the Indian Hindu from events like this in kashmir and soon the communal peace will break in havoc...

At gun point I too may choose the only option available (a 17 year old kid with a gun to do justice between me and someone else) even if I knew they are barbarians, and this happening all the while when my country's army is present there but has orders not to interfere, people may call me a hypocrite, a coward latter on but what about the state and its machinery that failed miserably to protect me, did not they abandon me when I needed them the most? What choice did I have then? Get my whole family killed or listen to the radio and act as they want me to act?

There thinking and goal of the people may have been same on both sides, but one side chose without any threat to or fear of loosing its life, property and honor ............... the other simply were left with go a head and choose the only option available which may suit your mentality because you were never afforded a chance to get yourself educated and employed.
