KARACHI: A 10-year-old Mir Hassan, who was bitten by a stray dog, died of rabies in Larkana on Tuesday.

Rabies encephalitis, a lethal viral but vaccine-preventable disease, claimed another life in Larkana district of Sindh when a boy died after falling prey to dog biting as he was not treated due to unavailability of anti-rabies vaccine at government hospitals.

According to the parents, their son was first taken to a hospital in Shikarpur where the minor was not given the treatment because there was no vaccine available at the hospital. Later, they rushed him to Larkana's Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Hospital but he could not receive care there either, as this government health center had also run out of the vaccine. Resultantly, the patient succumbed to the disease.

A Rabies Encephalitis is a dog-borne viral illness caused mostly by the biting of stray dogs, and if ARV is not administered to the affected person along with immunoglobulin, the patient suffers a miserable death due to hydrophobia and other complications of the disease.

-I just cant fuking imagine what the mom would have been going through at that time, watching her son dies in her arms. Shame on people for not coming forth and helping. Inalilahi wainalilahi rojiun.

One more life wasted. Don't know till when Bhutto will remain alive in Sindh.
It is dilemma, that all good governance claimed by PMLN & PPP only made self sufficient the both families heading these two parties but never made Pakistan self sufficient for producing anti-rabies/anti-venom vaccines.
The truth is bitter ... dog biting cases are problem for common people of Pakistan and not an issue of elites.

On the day of judgment, Imran Khan and everyone responsible would be held accountable InshaAllah.

In this world, Imran Khan shifts blame to Sindh but you tell me if it was Suleiman or Manekas kids, would Imran Khan have shifted blame to Sindh or shown who's the boss? I can never forget how brutally a DPO was insulted for doing his job and questioning Manekas kids for wandering like maniacs in the middle of the night.

Sindh shifts blame to federal and washes itself of responsibility. And just like that, nobody can be blamed. Neither federal nor provincial despite them both having the complete power to prevent these incidents from happening.

The public sees their kids dying in their own laps in a state of helplessness and despair. Only God knows what went through that mother's heart, i watched the video and felt a dread and couldn't anymore, she's his mother, imagine her pain.

Anyway, it's good this happened. That beautiful little soul is in a better place now InshaAllah away from this wretched, corrupt land. May Allah grant sabbar to the mother :(

There should be full accountability. Starting from bottom of the chain. Shake the hospital staff up about supply and usage of vaccine and trace where things went wrong. Then throw all people involved in a room with the same dog and close the door for good.
Its not just the higher ups that are to blame. Staff in such hospitals sell medicine and vaccines in the market and line their pockets.

Extremely sad news, How will the mother live on by losing her son in her arms while cant do nothing !!!!
May Allah have mercy on us

This disease is incurable
vaccine can be injected after the rabbid dog bites
but once someone gets this disease then his life can't be saved
Sindh government should kill stray dogs all over the Sindh it's most effective way to prevent this disease

Rabies is preventable not curable once you are infected with it, never take stray dog bites lightly get vaccinated immediately

You guys should re-instate the trade for life saving medicines atleast. Dont let your kids die for what happening in kashmir.

If I were in the government I would've used the same dog to bite all those that brought the country to this state.
Come on dude... There is time period for vaccination if u get late then even vaccination cant save u

Death from rabies is particularly gruesome with delusion ,confusion, aggression and hyperventilating ,hypersalivation and most interesting is fear of water and subsequent partial paralysis and coma ,if a vaccine is given within 48 hours and then continued with regular shots ,one can be saved ,otherwise it will be a fatality
