What's new

Bonjour India festival 2013. A French attempt to strengthen"cultural ties".

english should be purged out of india. its a colonialist language. a civilization as old as india's should not speak such a third rate language as a main form of communication.
india's biggest problem is we didn't give blood for our freedom. to fully appreaciate independence and nationhood, it is necessary to bleed for the nation. india is quite unfortunate in this regard

Says the guy who lives in Canada....

Having a huge pool of English speaking skilled workers is the key for economic success and an invaluable comparative advantage in todays globalized world economy.

Okey if its mistake earlier i apologize, I went overboard with the colonial reference to jandk, i will apologize if you got offended i know its a painful topic to discuss, as far as my pakistani heritage goes, interesting facts I will tell you is that i qualify for an indienne passport too through my gramps after all and then i shall accumulate more identities muahahaha ,
nah i am just kidding though I am seriously sorry about the colonial reference, i have gotten pretty desensitized about being politically incorrect after being on this forum for only 2 months.
no it's not painful or offensive.
we were weak we got colonised.it's as simple as that.
but now we are powerful and getting more powerful day by day.
no one can dare to attack us in present world.:)

. .
LOL what are you doing speaking such a third rate language?
@hinduguy it's actually pretty easy. But if anything the chicks here dig anyone with a foreign accent including British English lol

typical indian, always happy to embrace slavery. india should only have sanskrit as a national language. otherwise we remain cultural slaves of british

Viva la France & India

Amen!

Dunno if you guys noticed something. This Festival as well as previous ones (including the razzamatazz Festivals of India) are organised by the ICCR. The ICCR comes under the MEA not HRD Ministry or I & B Ministry. Its is a full-fledged Directorate in the Ministry. This Culture thing is a very important and effective instrument of Diplomacy over 65 years.

Not for nothing that India has always used "Soft Power" in its Diplomatic transactions.

I have appologized , i was politically incorrect and being racist. I know being on this forum makes me feel like an outsider sometimes, its so difficult to adjust to a pakistani identity and when you discuss something people already assume you know everything about every event , look i try my best to give a balance review but people are right, until I dont visit its not the same thing eh!!!!. The thing is I want a backpacking trip across the Hindakush mountain, so I could visit most of subcontinent however visa restrictions and people saying that backpacking is not a good idea currently in pakistan and inde due to insurgency though bangladesh and bhutan are still on my books .

@liontk I will tell you about my own experience about learning of the people. Personally I learn more by looking at reports and information over my computer than personally going out myself. That way I have stashed more knowledge in my head rather than by interaction. My sources are only professionals on twitter and other places who I look towards for news.

You can go to these places but if you go there for anything more than fun you won't enjoy it. Plus politics can be a tabboo topic in some societies. Be prepared for cultural shock though. The poverty can really surprise westerners!

Professional associations have also helped Indians and host country nationals identify common interests - surely the same will follow with the French - and at the same time, as a gauge, it will be important to promote the French language in India
Sir, French is learned by many Indians. It has huge demand along with Spanish. Most of the new tourist agencies and so many travel sites, from historical monuments to wild life reserves, these multi-lingual people earns handsome amount.

Most of the Indians know local language and English by default, especially those who have Tourism related employment and other languages are learned as competition has increased.

French connection in various areas from Fashion, to Strategic relations, Weapons, Tourism etc. increases the dependency and India is a good market for French as they need economic growth and India offer it billions worth of deals.

And to maintain these relations, they have to reciprocate and they should focus on what we can gain from them, like Tourists which helps Indian economy too.

Its Quid Pro Quo and India should use it to maximum.

Rather funny post for a 'claimed' researcher and writer. :) Is that why you write 'fiction'?

Information on a computer can be voluminous; but it is finally information that is fed in by somebody else! Then you are confronted with the quandary: how authentic or credible is it, how much should you accept it?

OTOH, what you get from going out and seeing and hearing things for yourself is experential. Then you are able to weigh matters for yourself and almost instantly you may be even able to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Its like when you say something to my face; I can assess that information by all my senses in addition to just reasoning.
But if you just put it on my monitor, it just have the words in front of me to go by; a big component is missing.

@liontk; your intention is sound. Learning is at its best when its experential. While there may be some practical difficulties, go out and execute it whenever you can. Don't get fazed by cultural differences, poverty or anything at all. They are not barriers, but simply challenges!

Vive la Difference! :)
