Bombing Reported in Tibet

BEIJING — A bomb possibly set by Tibetan independence advocates damaged a municipal building in a town in eastern Tibet this week, according to a report on Friday by Free Tibet, an advocacy group based in London.

The bombing took place at 4 a.m. on Wednesday, when there was apparently no one inside the building, the group said in statement. It said the words “Tibet’s independence” had been scrawled on a wall of the building, located in the town of Gama, or Karma in Tibetan, in the prefecture of Changdu.

Free Tibet, which has a network of informants in Tibet and Tibetan-populated areas in neighboring provinces of China, did not specify the source of its information about the bombing and cautioned that it had not been able to confirm some of the details.

Such acts of violence are rare in Tibet, where Chinese authorities have maintained a harsh repression of any sentiment favoring independence and Tibet's spiritual leader-in-exile, the Dalai Lama.

An official in Changdu reached by telephone said there was no report of any bombing.

So far this year, Free Tibet has reported self-immolations by 10 Tibetans to protest Chinese policies. All the incidents — by monks, former monks and a nun — have taken place in a Tibetan area of Sichuan Province, east of Changdu.

RIP if any Tibetan or Chinese are dead.

any type of terrorist act is not acceptable ..... if Tibetans have some demands then there are other ways to solve it ... Violence will lead them to nowhere

If these peaceful means could be applied to other parts of the world, then we would never have any problems.

but you need both hands for clapping so if you want peace then you have to be neutral

Well said. But talks should be the main way through to solve an impasse alongwith understanding of practical realities in
todays world.

But sadly, Western World especially US encourage it, and provide money to support it. And funny thing is that they are fighting terrorists who do the same thing in their country. So, maybe Chinese govenment should take some money to support "terrorists" who want to explode America. The worlds biggest terrist is US govenment who is threatenning other countries all the world. and start a war as simple as spitting without considering how many people they gonna kill with the slogen of "democracy". We can not see democracy we can see invasion and killing. Who give you the right to do it?

actually as long as double standards are present this thing can not be eradicated

India is such a huge supporter of terrorism, such as providing base for these tebeten terrorists.

I wonder how GOI moonlight their sponsorship in these case when their own country is threatened time to time by terrorism.

such a double standard.

China shouldn't allow those foreign aided people to work freely, the message how it could harm relations & security should be conveyed to most pathetic democratic state of the world.
