Bomb scare as 'sinister' packages found on planes bound for US

Can we stay on topic rather than discuss what Indians discuss in other topics?

Good thing that bomb didn't explode otherwise hundreds of people on the plan would have died.

What a coincidence ... another terror threat just before mid-term elections ... you just have to look at the map to understand the big picture of all the recent terror links to Yemen ...

.
That is a very retarded analogy.

THEY CANNOT, UNDER ANY JURISDICTION, SAY OH WE DID NOT KNOW WHAT WE WERE TRANSPORTING SO WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE.

The explosive used was PETN and the trigger circuitry was integrated into the printer electronics. Even the most advanced scans and security checks in any airport today could not have picked up the bombs. The only reason why they were intercepted was an intelligence tip-off from the Saudis. You can't blame the couriers for transporting such heavily concealed explosives.

The only sure way to stop such incidents would be to ban all air freight, which would be impossible. The harsh reality is that if a terrorist is determined enough, he can succeed. The only sure way of solving this problem is focusing on the root causes of terrorism like the Palestine issue and American interference in the Gulf, instead of trying to hunt down each and every terrorist in the world.

There is some debate going on right now whether the packages were supposed to explode in mid-air, or upon delivery to the Jewish organization they were addressed to.

15 ounces of PETN... depending upon where it was located in the cargo area, it might, or might not, have brought down the airplane. Hard to say right now.

It's not if, but when, these latest attempts will succeed.
